Karen Grude Koht
Karen Grude Koht (16 November 1871– 10 July 1960) was a Norwegian educationalist, essayist and feminist pioneer. Biography She was born at Høyland in Rogaland, Norway. She was the daughter of Martin Adolf Grude (1841-1918) and Anna Karoline Mossige (1849-1910). In 1893 she traveled to Kristiania (now Oslo) to attend Ragna Nielsens skole. In 1896, she passed the teacher's test and started her working career as a teacher in Sandnes. She taught from 1911 at the State School of Education at Stabekk, from 1920 at social courses offer through the Norwegian National Women's Council and from 1923 at Den kvinnelige industriskole in Oslo. She was also a deputy member of Bærum municipal council and was a member of the Bærum school board 1918-24. Høyland
Høyland is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The municipality was located at the innermost end of the Gandsfjorden in the western part of the present-day municipality of Sandnes. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. The main church for the municipality was Høyland Church. History The Prestegjeld, parish of ''Høiland'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 2,286. On 6 April 1861, the large village of Sandnes (population: 440) was declared to be a ladested (seaport town). It was therefore separated from Høyland to constitute a municipality of its own. The split left Høyland with 3,376 inhabitants. Anna Caspari Agerholt
Anna Caspari Agerholt (25 July 1892 – 16 August 1943) was a Norwegian women's rights activist and writer. She is remembered in particular for her groundbreaking ''Den norske kvinnebevegelses historie'' (The History of the Norwegian Women's Movement), published in 1937. Agerholt was a pioneering educator in social studies, giving a series of one-year courses for the Norwegian National Women's Council (''Norske Kvinners Nasjonalråd''). Nordre Gravlund is a cemetery located between Ullevål University Hospital and the district of Sagene in Oslo, Norway. History The cemetery was first established on the site in 1884. Halvdan Skard
Halvdan Skard (born 1 December 1939) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Oslo as a son of Åse Gruda Skard and Sigmund Skard, and through Åse the grandson of Halvdan Koht and Karen Grude Koht. He has two sisters Torild Skard and Målfrid Grude Flekkøy, who are twins, and himself has a twin brother Åsmund. He grew up in Trondheim, but when World War II reached Norway in 1940 the family fled to the United States via Sweden, the Soviet Union and Japan, returning in 1945. He later finished his secondary education at Oslo Cathedral School. He studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1962 to 1963 and in Paris from 1969 to 1970. He graduated with the cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo in 1972. He joined the Labour Party in 1965, and became involved in local politics, first in Stavanger and later in Bærum.
