Karen Gevorkian
Karen Gevorkian (born 7 May 1941) is an Armenian Soviet-Russian film director and screenwriter. He directed the film '' Spotted Dog Running at the Edge of the Sea'', which won the Golden St. George at the 17th Moscow International Film Festival. Gevorkian was born in Moscow into a musical family. Karen started to study the bassoon at the age of fourteen with Latvian bassoon soloist Andris Arnicans. Just one year later, he entered into the Gnessin Musical College. ''Spotted Dog Running at the Edge of the Sea'' (russian: Пегий пёс, бегущий краем моря, Transliteration, translit. Pegiy pyos, Begushchiy kraem morya) is a 1991 Soviet Union, Soviet drama film directed by Karen Gevorkian. It won the Golden St. George and the Prix International Federation of Film Critics, FIPRESCI at the 17th Moscow International Film Festival. Adapted from the novel "Deniz Boyloy Jortkon Ala Dobot" (Kyrgyz language: ''Деңиз Бойлой Жорткон Ала Дөбөт'', with same meaning of English title) by Chingiz Aitmatov. Plot The life of the Nivkh people, a small tribe living on the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk, is described. Moscow International Film Festival
The Moscow International Film Festival (russian: Моско́вский междунаро́дный кинофестива́ль, translit. ''Moskóvskiy myezhdunaródniy kinofyestivál''; abbreviated as MIFF) is the film festival first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. From its inception to 1959 it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1999. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films, translated as the International Federation of Film Producers Associations) paused the accreditation of the festival until further notice. Cinematography
Cinematography (from ancient Greek κίνημα, ''kìnema'' "movement" and γράφειν, ''gràphein'' "to write") is the art of motion picture (and more recently, electronic video camera) photography. Cinematographers use a lens to focus reflected light from objects into a real image that is transferred to some image sensor or light-sensitive material inside a movie camera.
