Karen Blake
Karen Blake is a radio disc jockey from Boston, Massachusetts. She has been on the Boston airwaves since the early 1980s. Early life and education Blake graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, majoring in Communications. Career Karen began her career at Pyramid Broadcasting with six years at Kiss 108 WXKS-FM, Boston. She then joined Ardman Broadcasting's WZOU 94.5 (now WJMN) where she was also known as "The Madam" doing Contemporary Hit Radio. She could be heard Mornings on the "Morning Zoo" Evenings and on Afternoon Drive for nearly a decade. Blake was also heard on Country Format WKLB-FM owned by Fairbanks Communication's for three years hosting Afternoon Drive. She then spent 9 years at Entercom, Boston – CHR/Rhythmic station Star 93.7 WQSX (now WEEI-FM) co-hosting Morning Drive. Disc Jockey
A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Types of DJs include radio DJs (who host programs on music radio stations), club DJs (who work at a nightclub or music festival), mobile DJs (who are hired to work at public and private events such as weddings, parties, or festivals), and turntablists (who use record players, usually turntables, to manipulate sounds on phonograph records). Originally, the "disc" in "disc jockey" referred to shellac and later vinyl records, but nowadays DJ is used as an all-encompassing term to also describe persons who mix music from other recording media such as cassettes, CDs or digital audio files on a CDJ, controller, or even a laptop. Endicott College
Endicott College is a private college in Beverly, Massachusetts. History Endicott College was founded as Endicott Junior College in 1939 by Eleanor Tupper and her husband, George O. Bierkoe. Originally a two-year women’s college, its mission was educating women for greater independence and an enhanced position in the workplace. The school was named for John Endicott, an early overseer of Harvard University and the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. It was issued its first charter by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that same year. It graduated its first class, 20 students, in 1941. WXKS-FM (107.9 FM), branded as ''Kiss 108'', is a commercial top 40/CHR radio station licensed to serve Medford, Massachusetts, and covering Greater Boston. WWBX (104.1 FM, ''Mix 104.1'') is a radio station with a hot adult contemporary format in Boston, Massachusetts. The format started at 98.5 FM on February 9, 1991, and moved to 104.1 FM, replacing WBCN on August 12, 2009, to allow for the launch of WBZ-FM at 98.5 the next day.
