Karel Kuklík
Karel Kuklík (March 7, 1937, Prague, Czechoslovakia – August 18, 2019, Prague) was a Czech photographer and one of the representatives of Informel in Czech fine art photography. He was classified as an artist influenced by abstract and surrealist tendencies and as an artist who creates works with a strong existentialist atmosphere. In 2000 he co-founded the photographic group Český dřevák. Life Karel Kuklík was born in Prague. His father was a tailor, who was imprisoned for illegal activity during World War II. Young Karel spent part of the early 1940s with his relatives in a few places, for example in a village near Blaník Hill. When he was about six he befriended František Šmejkal, who was the same age as him and who later became a notable art theoretician. Jaroslav Beneš (photographer)
Jaroslav Beneš (born February 27, 1946, in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech photographer and co-founder of the photographic group called Český dřevák. Life Jaroslav Beneš has been exposed to many different forms of art since he was a child. As a schoolboy he played different musical instruments, went to the theatre with his parents, and his uncle was an amateur painter. At the beginning of the 1960s he started to attend the Secondary School of Agriculture in Plasy, where he was involved in extra-curricular activities, such as poetry, drama, and music. It was also there that he was first introduced to Chinese poetry, which he still loves today. In 1965 he graduated and began to work as a livestock specialist. Three years later he started working as a stage technician in the ALFA Theatre in Pilsen. In 1977 he moved to Prague, where he briefly worked as a night guard at the Museum of Decorative Arts. Anna Fárová
Anna Fárová (1 June 1928 – 27 February 2010) was a Czech art historian who specialized and catalogued Czech and Czechoslovak photographers, including František Drtikol and Josef Sudek. She was one of the pioneers of writing on history of photography. Her publishing activities helped to establish photography as an art discipline within the country. Biography Fárová was born in 1928 in Paris, to a Czech diplomat, Miloš Šafránek, and a French professor, Anne Moussu. She spent a part of her early childhood in Paris, the family moved to Plzeň, Czechoslovakia only in the middle of the 1930s. Following her studies at the French gymnasium in Prague she continued studying art history and aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague.Fárová began her studies at the Charles University in 1948. Šumava
The Bohemian Forest, known in Czech as Šumava () and in German as Böhmerwald, is a low mountain range in Central Europe. Geographically, the mountains extend from Plzeň Region and South Bohemia in the Czech Republic to Austria and Bavaria in Germany, and form the highest truncated uplands of the Bohemian Massif, up to 50 km wide. They create a natural border between the Czech Republic on one side and Germany and Austria on the other.
