Frank Karel (1935-2009) was an advocate and pioneer in health and public interest communications. Karel focused on philanthropic communications as a way to drive social change. Early life and education Frank Karel was born on August 30, 1935, in Orlando, Florida. He served in the Texas Air Force from 1954 to 1958. In 1957 he married the late Graciela Guerrero in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for 44 years until her death in 2001. They had two daughters, Barbara Kendrick and Elizabeth Reynolds. He later married Betsy Karel. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1961 and later received a master's degree in public administration from New York University in 1983. Jozef Karel (13 September 1922 in Humenné – 26 September 2005 in Košice) was a Slovak association football, football player and coach. A midfielder, he played for SAC Sečovce, Snaha Košice, 1. Marian Karel (born 21 August 1944 in Pardubice), is a Czech sculptor and university professor. Life and career From 1959 to 1963 he studied at the Central School of Applied Arts in Jablonec nad Nisou. In the years 1965 to 1972 he studied at the studio of Stanislav Libenský at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. In 1992 he became Head of the Studio Glass in Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Prague, and in 1995 he was appointed Professor and the Head of the department of fine arts. His other teaching activities have included posts in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand, Finland, France, Ireland and Bulgaria. Rudolf Karel
Rudolf Karel (9 November 1880 in Plzeň – 6 March 1945 in Theresienstadt) was a distinguished Czech people, Czech composer. Biography Rudolf Karel was a son of a railway employee. He studied law at Charles University and then composition from 1899 to 1904 with Antonín Dvořák and organ with Josef Klička. When WWI started he was visiting Russia. He was arrested, but managed to escape. He joined Czechoslovak Legions and served as a conductor of their orchestra. In 1923 he became a professor at Prague Conservatory. During WWII he took part in the resistance and in March 1943 was arrested. After being interned and tortured at Pankrác prison for two years (1943–1945) Karel was sent to Theresienstadt Small Fortress (1940–1945), Theresienstadt prison. William Karel (born 1940) is a French film director and author. He is known for his historical and political documentaries. Biography Karel was born in Bizerte in French Tunisia. After studying in Paris, he emigrated to Israel where he lived for about 10 years in a kibbutz. Returning to France in 1981, he turned to photography and worked for more than ten years as a photo-reporter for several agencies like Gamma (1972–1976) and Sygma (1976–1983). Then he started to direct movies. Since the end of the eighties, Karel has directed many historical and political documentaries dealing with sensitive subjects of the twentieth century, from the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup (''Rafle du Vélodrome d'Hiver'') to the Israeli-Arab conflict, while talking about the FMI policy in Jamaica or the extreme right wing in France.
