Kardinia is a heritage-listed detached house at 11 Victoria Street, North Ward, Queensland, North Ward, City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. It was built in the 1880s. It is also known as Japanese Consulate. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Kardinia, a decorative, single-storeyed timber residence, was erected during the boom years of the 1880s. The site was first purchased in April 1883 by Arthur Walters, and sold by November that year to Edward Bevan, a surveyor then in partnership with Christian Waagepetersen as Waagepetersen and Bevan, architects, surveyors and agents, Townsville. By 1883 Bevan was also editor of the Daily Northern Standard, a Townsville publication, and became well known as an artist and writer. Kardinia Park is a major public park located in South Geelong, Victoria. A number of public and sporting facilities are located in the park: a major AFL stadium, a secondary football oval, a cricket field, an open air swimming pool, a number of netball courts, various sporting clubrooms, and a senior citizens centre. The park is bounded by Moorabool Street, the Geelong railway line, Kilgour Street, Latrobe Terrace, and Park Crescent. History Kardinia Park was first proclaimed as a public park in May 1872 by the Commissioner of Crown Lands. Then known as Chilwell Flat the new park was 60 acres (24 hectares) in size. Control of the land was vested in the Geelong, Newtown, and Chilwell councils. 1872 saw Kardinia Park adopted as the name. Kardinia Church
Kardinia Church is a church based in Bell Post Hill, Geelong, Australia, with campuses in Ballarat, Warrnambool, Bell Post Hill and Melbourne. The church was established in 1915 as the Drumcondra Church of Christ. It was led by Senior Pastors Rick and Leonie Wright. History Drumcondra Church of Christ was established in 1915. It moved to Manifold Heights in 1965 and reopened as the Manifold Heights Church of Christ. The church later relocated to its present site in Bell Post Hill. The church became known as Kardinia Christian Fellowship. In 2001, the fellowship moved to its new home and became Kardinia Church.
