The Karay-a are a Visayan ethnic group native to the islands of Panay and Palawan in the Philippines. They speak the Karay-a language ( krj, Kinaray-a). Etymology The ethnonym ''Karay-a'' was derived from the word ''iraya'', which means "upstream". The term krj, Hamtikanon, label=none, literally "of Antique", is incorrectly used as a synonym of Karay-a; however, it properly refers to registered residents of the province of Antique irrespective of ethnicity. The Karay-a language ( krj, label=none, Kinaray-a, krj, label=none, Binisayâ nga Kinaray-a or krj, label=none, Hinaraya; en, Harayan) is an Austronesian regional language in the Philippines spoken by the Karay-a people, mainly in Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and other provinces on the island of Panay, as well as portions of the Soccsksargen region in Mindanao and Palawan. It is one of the Bisayan languages, mainly along with Aklanon/Malaynon, Capiznon, Cebuano, and Hiligaynon. Geographical distribution Kinaray-a is spoken mainly in Antique. Nikolai Rostov
Count Nikolai Ilyich Rostov (russian: Николай Ильич Ростов, ''Nikolaj Il'ič Rostov'') is a character in Leo Tolstoy's 1869 novel ''War and Peace''. Count Nikolai is the brother of Vera Rostova, Natasha Rostova and Petya Rostov. At the start of the novel, Nikolai is aged 20 and a university student. He gives up his studies in a zealous desire to serve his country as a Hussar in the fight against Napoleon's French invading forces. He dreams of manly success and glory in battle, although these dreams are somewhat undermined after he falls and is injured in the Battle of Schöngrabern. ''Heart of a Dog'' (russian: Собачье сердце, translit. ''Sobachye serdtse'') is a black-and-white 1988 Soviet television film directed by Vladimir Bortko. It is based on Mikhail Bulgakov's novel '' Heart of a Dog''. Premiering show of the film aired on 20 November 1988 at 18:45 on the Central Television Programme One. The film consisted of two episodes. The novel written in 1925 was censored in the Soviet Union, but at times of perestroika shown on the Soviet television. Plot The film is set in Moscow not long after the October Revolution where a complaining stray dog looks for food and shelter. A well-off, well-known surgeon Philipp Philippovich Preobrazhensky happens to need a dog and with a piece of sausage lures the animal to his big house with annexed practice.
