Karasburg Constituency
Karasburg was a constituency in the ǁKaras Region of Namibia. The main towns were Karasburg and Grünau; other populated places included Warmbad and Aussenkehr, and the border settlements of Ariamsvlei and Noordoewer. The Orange River formed part of the southern border of this constituency. Economic activities in this constituency were mainly small-stock farming, and near the Orange River, grape production. It had a population of 16,470 in 2011, up from 15,758 in 2001. Karasburg East
Karasburg East is an electoral constituency in the ǁKaras Region of Namibia. the constituency had 6,553 registered voters. Karasburg East was created in August 2013 from the eastern part of Karasburg Constituency, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. The administrative centre of Karasburg East is the town of Karasburg. Politics In the 2015 regional elections, Dennis Benjamin Coetzee of SWAPO won the constituency with 1,602 votes. His only opponent, Albertus Laurentius Jossop of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) obtained 504 votes. The Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) is a political party in Namibia. It was launched on 17 November 2007 under the leadership of Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu, both former leading members of the ruling SWAPO party and cabinet ministers. Hamutenya had unsuccessfully sought the SWAPO nomination for President in 2004. At the time of the RDP's launch, it was considered to represent the strongest challenge to SWAPO's political dominance since the country gained its independence in 1990. The South West Africa People's Organisation (, SWAPO; af, Suidwes-Afrikaanse Volks Organisasie, SWAVO; german: Südwestafrikanische Volksorganisation, SWAVO), officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Karasburg West is an electoral constituency in the ǁKaras Region of Namibia. the constituency had 6,609 registered voters. Karasburg West was created in August 2013 from the western part of Karasburg Constituency, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. The administrative centre of Karasburg West is the village of Noordoewer. The ''New Era'' is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country, the others being ''The Namibian'' (English and Oshiwambo), ''Die Republikein'' (Afrikaans) and '' Allgemeine Zeitung'' (German). ǁKaras Region
The ǁKaras Region (pronounced , with a lateral click) is the southernmost and least densely populated of the 14 regions of Namibia; its capital is Keetmanshoop. The name assigned to the region reflects the prominence of the Karas mountain range in its southern part. The ǁKaras region contains the municipality of Keetmanshoop, the towns Karasburg, Lüderitz and Oranjemund, and the self-governed villages Aroab, Berseba, Bethanie, Koës and Tses. ǁKaras' western border is the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Its location in Namibia's south means that it shares a long border in the south and east with the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.
