Kara (South Korean Group)
Kara (Hangul: 카라, Japanese: カラ, often stylized as KARA) is a South Korean pop girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group's final lineup was composed of Gyuri, Seungyeon, Hara and Youngji. Members Nicole and Jiyoung officially departed from the group in 2014, but rejoined the group for their 15th anniversary in 2022, while ex-member Sunghee left in 2008. The group originally started off as a quartet and made their debut in March 2007 with their first studio album ''The First Blooming'' and its single "Break It" while displaying a strong female image and a mature R&B sound. Expectations for the group were big because they were considered as successors to their senior labelmate, Fin.K.L. However, their debut was not well received by the public and was a commercial failure. ''Rock U'' (also known as ''Kara 1st Mini Album'') is the first extended play by South Korean girl group Kara. It was released on July 25, 2008. ''Rock U'' was released as the lead single. This was also the first album to feature the two new members of the group; Kang Jiyoung and Goo Hara, following the departure of former member Kim Sunghee. The release also showed a big transition from the group's original "strong female" image to a "cute and natural" appeal, shifting from the R&B sound of their debut to bubblegum pop. (stylized as KARA Collection) is a compilation album by South Korean girl group Kara. It was first released in Japanese on September 5, 2012 in four different editions: two CD+DVD, a Regular edition and a digital Deluxe edition. A Korean edition, titled as ''KARA Solo Collection'', was released on November 30, 2012 digitally and December 4, 2012 physically. The songs were performed in Korean language.
