Kao Tsu-min
Kao Tsu-min (; born 1939) is a Taiwanese physician and politician. Kao is a native of Yunlin County. After graduating from Kaohsiung Medical University, he pursued further study in physiatry at New York University. Kao practiced medicine in the United States, and his medical career in America included a stint at the White House. He accepted a presidential appointment to the Legislative Yuan, serving from 1990 to 1993, as a representative of overseas Chinese. Kao later joined the People First Party, and in 2011, led a petition to convince party chairman James Soong to run in the 2012 Taiwanese presidential election. Yunlin County
Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan. Yunlin County borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Nantou County to the east, Changhua County to the north at the Zhuoshui River, and Chiayi County to the south at the Beigang River. Yunlin is part of the Chianan Plain, a flat land known for its agriculture. Agricultural products of Yunlin County include pomelo, tea leaves, suan cai, papaya and muskmelon. Yunlin's rivers give it potential for hydroelectricity. Douliu is the largest and capital city of Yunlin. It is the only county on the main island of Taiwan where no city with the same name exists. Yang Fu-mei (; born 1942) is a Taiwanese politician. Education Yang, a Kaohsiung native, studied pharmacology at Kaohsiung Medical University before earning a master's degree in nutrition at Columbia University in the United States. Kaohsiung Medical University
The Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU; ) is a private medical school located in Sanmin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The university was originally established as Kaohsiung Medical College in 1954 by the former mayor of Kaohsiung City, Chen Chi-chuan, and Tu Tsung-ming, the first Ph.D. of Medical Sciences in Taiwan. At the time of its establishment, the college was the first private institution of its kind in southern Taiwan. The college hospital, the Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, was founded three years after the establishment of KMC in June 1957. Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital is the largest medical center in southern Taiwan and serves as a teaching hospital. Ko Wen-je
Ko Wen-je (; born 6 August 1959), also known by his nickname, Ko P (), is a Taiwanese politician and physician. Ko was mayor of Taipei from 2014 to 2022, and Chairman of the Taiwan People's Party since 2019. Before becoming mayor, he was a doctor at National Taiwan University Hospital. He was also a professor at National Taiwan University College of Medicine, and specialized in fields including trauma, intensive care, organ transplant, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and artificial organs. Due to his profession, he has been nicknamed Ko P or KP (which stands for Professor Ko, and is how he is customarily referred to within National Taiwan University). Ko was responsible for standardising organ transplant procedures in Taiwan, and was the first physician to bring ECMO to Taiwan.
