Kanza Bowl
The Kanza Bowl was an annual American NCAA Division II college football bowl game played between teams from the Lone Star Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association that is played the first Saturday of each December at the Hummer Sports Park on the grounds of the former Topeka State Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. In 2010 it was called the Lower Kanza Bowl after being sponsored by local plumbing company Lower Inc. The first game was December 5, 2009. The conferences had a commitment to play the game at least until 2012. The MIAA competes in two of the three active football bowls in NCAA Division II. The other bowl is the Mineral Water Bowl in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, which operates in the western Midwestern United States. Nine of its members are in Minnesota, with three members in South Dakota, two members in North Dakota, and one member each in the states of Iowa and Nebraska. It was founded in 1932. With the recent NSIC expansion, the original six member schools have been reunited. With the inclusion of the several new member institutions, it is one of the largest Division II conferences in the country with 16 members. The conference sponsors 18 sports; ten for women and eight for men. Both men and women compete in basketball, cross country, golf, and indoor and outdoor track and field. Live United Texarkana Bowl
The Live United Texarkana Bowl, known under a naming rights agreement as the Fun Town RV Live United Bowl, is a college football bowl game played annually in Texarkana, Arkansas between teams from NCAA Division II. It is one of four NCAA Division II sanctioned bowl games; the others are the Mineral Water Bowl (currently on hiatus), the Heritage Bowl, and the America's Crossroads Bowl. Profits from the game are donated to the United Way of Greater Texarkana. The game selection committee selects one team from the Great American Conference and one from either the Lone Star Conference or the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association; the MIAA and LSC were previously tied into the Kanza Bowl, which played from 2009 to 2012. Fun Town RV owns naming rights to the game. The 2020 edition was not contested due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dixie Rotary Bowl
The Dixie Rotary Bowl was a college bowl game initiated by the St. George, Utah Rotary Club and hosted at Greater Zion Stadium, the home field of Dixie State Junior College in St. George, Utah. From 1986 to 2005, the game was a junior college bowl sanctioned by the National Junior College Athletic Association, featuring top NJCAA teams. In 2003, the bowl played host to the NJCAA national championship. The bowl transitioned to NCAA Division II from 2006 to 2008 after Dixie State University became a four-year college and transitioned to NCAA Division II. The bowl was canceled before the beginning of the 2009 season, after the home team had failed to appear in consecutive seasons, reducing local interest. Pioneer Bowl
The Pioneer Bowl was the name of some December college football bowl games played in two different eras. Between 1971 and 1982, the game was contested 10 times in Texas as an NCAA College Division regional final, or as a playoff game for Division II or Division I-AA. Between 1997 and 2012, the game was played 14 times in the South between historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). NCAA Division II National Football Championship
The NCAA Division II Football Championship is an American college football tournament played annually to determine a champion at the NCAA Division II level. It was first held in 1973, as a single-elimination tournament with eight teams. The tournament field has subsequently been expanded three times; in 1988 it became 16 teams, in 2004 it became 24 teams, and in 2016 it became 28 teams. The National Championship game has been held in seven different cities; Sacramento, California (1973–1975), Wichita Falls, Texas (1976–1977), Longview, Texas (1978), Albuquerque, New Mexico (1979–1980), McAllen, Texas (1981–1985), Florence, Alabama (1986–2013), and Kansas City, Kansas (2014–2017). NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions. The College Division members who wanted to offer athletic scholarships or compete against those who did became Division II, while those who chose not to offer athletic scholarships became Division III.
