''Kanthan – The Lover of Colour'' is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language drama film written by Pramod Kooveri and directed by Shareef Easa. It is produced by Shareef Easa under the banner of Rolling Pix Entertainment and has Prajith and social activist Daya Bai in the lead roles. The film won the 2018 Kerala State Film Award for Best Film. The film was released OTT in 2021. Plot Set in Wayanad Thirunelly Nangara adivasi colony, the film tells the story of Kanthan, who became an orphan at a young age. 80 year old Ithyamma takes him under her wings and helps him face the world and its challenges. Daya Bai (born Mercy Mathew) is an Indian social activist from Kerala, working among the tribals of central India. She lives in Barul village of Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh. Wayanad () is a district in the north-east of Indian state Kerala with administrative headquarters at the municipality of Kalpetta. It is the only plateau in Kerala. The Wayanad Plateau forms a continuation of the Mysore Plateau, the southern portion of Deccan Plateau. It is set high in the Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 meters. The Adivasi refers to inhabitants of Indian subcontinent, generally tribal people. The term is a Sanskrit word coined in the 1930s by political activists to give the tribal people an indigenous identity by claiming an indigenous origin.
