Kansas's 35th Senate District
Kansas's 35th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Republican Rick Wilborn since a 2014 special election. Geography District 35 covers the rural geographical center of the state to the north of Wichita, including all of Chase, Ellsworth, Marion, McPherson, and Morris Counties and parts of Dickinson and Rice Counties. Communities in the district include McPherson, Hillsboro, Ellsworth, Lyons, Lindsborg, Sterling, Marion, Council Grove, Herington, and Moundridge. Kansas Senate District 35 (2010)
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Kansas is a landlocked state bordered by Nebraska to the north; Missouri to the east; Oklahoma to the south; and Colorado to the west. Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks. The tribe's name (natively ') is often said to mean "people of the (south) wind" although this was probably not the term's original meaning. For thousands of years, what is now Kansas was home to numerous and diverse Native American tribes. Tribes in the eastern part of the state generally lived in villages along the river valleys. Jay Emler
Jay Scott Emler (born May 25, 1949) is a former Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 35th district from 2001 until 2014. He previously worked as a Municipal Judge in Lindsborg. Emler was elected by his colleagues to serve as majority leader of the Senate, following Derek Schmidt's election as Kansas Attorney General. Emler assumed the position when the Senate convened January 10, 2011. Kansas's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Kansas. Commonly known as "The Big First", the district encompasses all or part of 64 counties in western and northern Kansas (more than half of the state), making it the seventh-largest district in the nation that does not cover an entire state. Herington, Kansas
Herington is a city in Dickinson and Morris counties in the U.S. state of Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 2,109. History 19th century Herington was named after its founder, Monroe Davis Herington. His name at birth was Davis Monroe Herrington, but he later dropped the second "r" from his last name.
