Kansas's 18th Senate District
Kansas's 18th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Republican Kristen O'Shea since January 11, 2021. Previous senators include Democrat Vic Miller and Governor Laura Kelly. Geography District 18 is based in northern Topeka, also stretching west to Silver Lake, Rossville, St. Marys, and Wamego. It covers parts of Pottawatomie, Shawnee, and Wabaunsee Counties. Kansas Senate District 18 (2010)
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Kansas is a landlocked state bordered by Nebraska to the north; Missouri to the east; Oklahoma to the south; and Colorado to the west. Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks. The tribe's name (natively ') is often said to mean "people of the (south) wind" although this was probably not the term's original meaning. Wabaunsee County (standard abbreviation: WB) is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the county population was 6,877. Its county seat is Alma. The 2018 Kansas gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2018, to elect the next Governor of Kansas. Democratic nominee Laura Kelly won the election, defeating Republican nominee Kris Kobach and independent candidate Greg Orman. Kansas's 2nd Congressional District
Kansas' 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Kansas that covers most of the eastern part of the state, except for the core of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The district encompasses less than a quarter of the state. The state capital of Topeka is located within this district.
