Kannada Cinema
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Janaki; 12 December 1931), popularly known as Sowcar Janaki (Tamil) or Shavukaru Janaki (Telugu) or Sahukar Janaki (Kannada), is an Indian actress who has appeared in over 300, films, predominantly in Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, and Kannada languages. Vijaya Bhaskar
Vijaya Bhaskar ( kan, ವಿಜಯಭಾಸ್ಕರ್; 1924–2002) was an Indian music director and composer who composed music for several mainstream and experimental feature films in the Kannada film industry. Scoring music for over 600 feature films, Bhaskar worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Tulu and Konkani language films as well. He was a part of all of popular Kannada film director KSL Swamy's (Ravi) movies and was also known for his association with acclaimed directors Puttanna Kanagal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Influenced by R C Boral and Mukul Mehta, Bhaskar developed his own style of music and introduced the concept of theme music in Kannada film industry. Kalpana (18 July 1943 – 12 May 1979), born Sharat Lata, was an Indian actress who appeared in Kannada films. She was affectionately referred to as ''Minugu Taare'' ("A Shining Star") among the film fraternity. She was widely recognised as one of the greatest actresses of Kannada cinema who enjoyed both fan following and critical acclaim. ''Naandi'' is a 1964 Kannada romantic drama film directed and written by N. Lakshminarayan, making his first venture in film direction. The film was produced by actor Vadiraj and Jawahar for ''Sri Bharathi Chitra'' studio house. The film starred Dr. Rajkumar and Harini along with Kalpana and Udaykumar playing guest roles. Actor Dinesh made his debut through this film in a supporting role. Harini (Kannada Actress)
Harini is a former actress in the Kannada cinema. She was active during the 1950s and 1960s, retiring at the peak of her career. As of 2006 she lived in Bangalore. Early life Harini was born to Srinivasa Upadhya and Bharathi in Udupi as their fourth child. Her brother Vadiraj was also an actor and producer. She appeared as a child artist in films like '' Sri Murugan'' and ''Kannika'' for which she received one rupee for delivering the dialogues very nicely.
