Kangan, Jammu And Kashmir
Kangan is a town located near Ganderbal, in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is one of the tehsils in District Ganderbal. It is situated across the Nallah Sindh and spread over a 50-km-long gorge valley, with population of 120,934 and literacy rate of 52.8% and sex ratio 868 per thousand males. Kangan Gas Field
The Kangan gas field is an Iranian natural gas field that was discovered by the NIOC-EGOCO consortium (contract signed in March 1969) with the Kangan #2 well drilled in 1972. It began production in 1980 and produces natural gas and condensates. The total proven reserves of the Kangan gas field are around 29 trillion cubic feet (829×109m3) and production is slated to be around 800 million cubic feet/day (23×106m3). Nar gas field is located a few kilometers away from kangan gas field. That's why Nar & Kangan appear together most of the time. The produced gas from Nar & Kangan fields delivers to Fajr gas refinery in the downstream. Nar & Kangan is the major onshore natural gas provider for domestic consumption. Kangan Institute is a TAFE (technical and further education) provider in Melbourne, Australia. History Kangan Institute was established as the Broadmeadows College of TAFE on 28 February 1986, when it was formally opened by Prime Minister Bob Hawke. It was originally built to cater for 3000 students at a cost of $13.5 million. It subsequently acquired a series of other campuses in its first decade, including at Avondale Heights, Essendon and Moreland. In August 1995, the institution was renamed the Kangan Institute of TAFE in honour of Myer Kangan, the founder of the TAFE system in Australia. On 1 July 1997, it merged with the John Batman College of TAFE to form Kangan Batman TAFE. The merger resulted in the closure of the former John Batman TAFE's campus in Gaffney Street, Coburg, but the amalgamated body expanded again in 1998 when it absorbed the Richmond Automotive Campus of Barton TAFE after a major state government review.
