Kang Jin-a
Kang Jin-a (born August 18, 1981) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Early life Kang graduated from Hongik University's Department of Visual Design in 2004. Career Kang's work mainly deals with the themes of life and death, including ''Suicide of the Quadruplets'' (2008), ''Be with Me'' (2009) and ''Paprika Feast'' (2011). Her short ''Be with Me'' (2009) won the Best Film in A Short Film About Love at the 9th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2010. Her directorial feature debut ''Dear Dolphin'' (2013), an exploration of life, love and grief, premiered at the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival and won the CGV Movie Collage Prize. Pierce Conran of ''Twitch Film'' praised "Kang's natural ability as both a storyteller and a stylist" but described some elements of the film as derivative, while Derek Elley of ''Film Business Asia'' was more critical, stating that it "lacks the wrenching feeling it should have built towards". The Coast Guard (film)
''The Coast Guard'' (, ) is a 2002 South Korean film directed by Kim Ki-duk. The film deals with military atrocities and the absurdities of borders and conflicts. Plot Private Kang is a South Korean marine guarding the South Korean coastline near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, overly eager to shoot a North Korean spy during his time on duty. On one dimly-lit night, a drunk local couple sneaks into the fenced-off demilitarized zone to have sex. Kang spots the man on his blurry night-vision scope, and mistaking him for a North Korean spy, kills him with his rifle and grenade. Plot Awaking alone in the middle of a dark forest, Kang Min sees a secluded cabin nearby and wanders towards it. ''Once Upon a Time in a Battlefield'' () is a 2003 South Korean war comedy film directed by Lee Joon-ik. Its plot is about the Battle of Hwangsanbeol between Baekje and Silla in the 7th century. The film was the 8th most attended film of 2003 with 2,835,000 tickets sold nationwide. Its popularity has spawned a sequel, titled ''Battlefield Heroes'', which debuted in 2011, and takes place in the subsequent Silla-Tang invasion of Goguryeo. Plot The movie starts out with a meeting between the rulers of Baekje, Silla, Tang China, and Goguryeo.
