Kanavu Variyam
''Kanavu Variyam'' () is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Arun Chidambaram and produced by DCKAP cinemas. The film stars Chidambaram in the lead role alongside Jiya Shankar and revolves around power cuts and electricity deficit in the villages of Tamil Nadu, India. Featuring a predominantly new cast and crew, the film was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures as their first South Indian film. Prior to its theatrical release, the film was screened at several international film festivals and received a number of awards and recognition. Among its titles, ''Kanavu Variyam'' won the Platinum Remi for Best Independent Theatrical Feature Film (Drama) and the same was awarded at the 49th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival. The film also won the Special Jury Award at National Science Film Festival and Competition in India. ''Kanavu Variyam'' was released across India on 24 February 2017. Jiya Shankar
Jiya Shankar is an Indian television actress known for playing Dr. Iravati "Ira" Pandey in ''Meri Hanikarak Biwi'' and Susheela Ruhail Solanki "Susheela" in ''Kaatelal & Sons.'' Also appeared as a co host of "Good Night India" on SAB TV. She recently appeared in the Marathi movie Ved, starring alongside Ritesh Deshmukh, and Genelia Deshmukh. George Maryan
George Maryan (born 23 March 1963) is an Indian actor and comedian, who has appeared in Tamil cinema. He started his career in theatre, before working in Tamil cinema and has often collaborated with film-makers A. L. Vijay, Sundar C and Priyadarshan. Career George Maryan began his career as an actor in theatre during 1989 and continued to perform in plays until 2002. Mahalakshmi Iyer
Mahalakshmi Iyer is an Indian playback singer, best known for her Hindi, Assamese and Tamil songs. She has sung in many other Indian languages as well, including Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Odia, Gujarati and Kannada. The Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival was founded in 1999 by the Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI) in the city of Muskogee, Oklahoma, United States to showcase independent motion picture projects with budgets of less than 1 million dollars (hence "bare bones"). The festival runs for eleven days each year in late April at several venues in downtown Muskogee. Udaya Kumar Dharmalingam is an Indian academic and designer noted for his design of the Indian rupee sign. His design was selected from among five short listed symbols. Bharathiraja (born 17 July 1941) is an Indian film director and actor who works mainly in the Tamil film industry. Making his debut in 1977 with ''16 Vayathinile'', he is known for realistic and sensitive portrayals of rural life in his films. Yuvan Shankar Raja or Abdul Haliq (born 31 August 1979) is an Indian film score and soundtrack composer and singer-songwriter. He mainly scores music for Tamil films.
