Kamenný Most (Kladno District)
Kamenný Most is a municipality and village in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. Etymology The name means 'stone bridge'. At the time when the village was founded, arched stone bridges were not built yet, but there was probably some kind of bridging, for which stone was also used as a material. Geography Kamenný Most is located about northeast of Kladno and northwest of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape, on the border between the Lower Ohře Table and Prague Plateau. History The first written mention of Kamenný Most is from 1088, when it was owned by the Vyšehrad Chapter. Demographics Transport Kamenný Most is located on the railway line Louny–Kralupy nad Vltavou. Sights The main landmark of Kamenný Most is a small late Baroque chapel. Kamenný Most (Nové Zámky District)
Kamenný Most ( hu, Kőhídgyarmat) is a village and municipality in the Nové Zámky District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia. Geography The village lies at an altitude of 114 metres and covers an area of 20.336 km². History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1271 After the Austro-Hungarian army disintegrated in November 1918, Czechoslovak troops occupied the area, later acknowledged internationally by the Treaty of Trianon. Between 1938 and 1945 Kamenný Most once more became part of Miklós Horthy's Hungary through the First Vienna Award. From 1945 until the Velvet Divorce, it was part of Czechoslovakia. Since then it has been part of Slovakia. Population On 31 December 2011, it had a population of 1054 people. Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge ( cs, Karlův most ) is a medieval stone arch bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the early 15th century.; The bridge replaced the old Judith Bridge built 1158–1172 that had been badly damaged by a flood in 1342. This new bridge was originally called Stone Bridge (''Kamenný most'') or Prague Bridge (''Pražský most''), but has been referred to as "Charles Bridge" since 1870. As the only means of crossing the river Vltava until 1841, Charles Bridge was the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city's Old Town and adjacent areas. This land connection made Prague important as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe. The bridge is long and nearly wide.
