Kalvialaya
Kalvialaya is a NGO registered in 2010, an initiative by M Selvakumar, an alumnus of PSBB school, to help the rural and disadvantaged children of India get education, coaching and guidance. The program helps young people learn to communicate, to build self-esteem, and to make healthy decisions for their futures. It also teaches professional skills to give them greater opportunities for employment, thus lowering their likelihood of future delinquency. The organisation works for the benefit of poor communities of villages in and around Pilapur near Chengelpattu, Kanchipuram District, Madhuranthakam Taluk to combat the continuous adoption of child labour, low daily wages, domestic and community violence, and high levels of unemployment. Kanchipuram District
Kancheepuram district is one of the 38 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The area comprising the present day Kancheepuram district was earlier a part of Chingleput district. The original Chingleput district was split in 1997 into form the present day Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. On 18 July 2019, Chengalpattu district was carved out of Kanchipuram district, with suburbs from Chengalpet towards Chennai under the district headquarters in Chengalpet. The separation came into effect from 29 November which was done by Chief Minister Mr. Edappadi K Palaniswami. Geography Kancheepuram district is situated on the North Eastern part of Tamil Nadu. Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy
Yecha Gunja Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy (27 November 1925 – 6 August 2019), better known as Mrs YGP, was an Indian journalist, educationist and social worker. She was the founder and dean of the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan. Rajalakshmi was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010, India's fourth highest civil honour for her contribution to literature and education. Personal life Rajalakshmi was born in Madras on 27 November 1925 into an affluent and educated family, the daughter of Burmah Shell employee R. Parthasarathy and his wife Alamelu Amma. Her father was the son of Indian independence activist, Dewan Bahadur T. Rangachari and her mother was a homemaker. Her cousin K. Balaji was an actor and director in the Tamil film industry. Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan
Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) is a group of schools located in Chennai, India. The school was founded by educationalist Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy (1925–2019), also known as Mrs. YGP. History The PSBB School in Chennai was established in 1958 by a group of housewives of the Nungambakkam Ladies Recreation Club. There were 13 students in a thatched shed on the terrace of the residence of the dean and director of the school, Mrs. Y. G. Parthasarathy. The land was donated by the family of the famous Table Tennis Player, Venugopal Chandrasekhar. At the time the school did not have many facilities. Today the school has 5 branches (including PSBB Millennium) with over 8000 students and 500 staff. Chengalpattu, previously known as Chingleput, is a city and the headquarters of Chengalpattu district of the state Tamil Nadu, India. The town is located near to the industrial and IT hub.
