Kallur Subba Rao
Kallur Subba Rao was an Indian freedom activist and politician. He was a scholar in Kannada and Telugu and a teacher by profession. He was born in Kallur near Hindupur Taluk, Anantapur District. His Father’s name was Sri Surappa and his mother's name was Smt Puttamma. Kallur Subba Rao was born on 25 May 1897, and was the first person to start the Congress Movement in Rayalaseema. He studied up to 12th standard. When Subba Rao was 17-year-old, he attended a meeting hosted by Annie Besant. Thereafter, he started participating in other such meetings and became an active member of Indian Freedom Struggle. He was imprisoned for 7 years as a freedom fighter. After Indian independence, he was elected as a Member of Constituent Assembly of India from Madras Presidency. Afterwards, he was awarded Padma Shri in 1967. Jenny Kallur
Jenny Margareta Kallur (; born 16 February 1981) is a Swedish former track and field athlete who competed in hurdling and sprinting events. Her twin sister Susanna Kallur, who is four minutes younger, is also a 100 m hurdler. She was coached by Torbjörn Eriksson and Anders Henriksson. Her first athletic successes came as a young athlete: she won the 100 metres title at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 1997 and took a bronze medal in the sprint relay at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Athletics, setting a Swedish junior record. She made successive appearances on the European, World and Olympic stage from 2002 to 2004. Susanna Elisabeth "Sanna" Kallur (; born 16 February 1981) is a Swedish former athlete competing mainly in sprint hurdles. She has won several international medals, including the gold medal in the 100 m hurdles at the 2006 European Athletics Championships. Kallur holds the world indoor record for 60 m hurdles. Career Kallur made a breakthrough by winning the 100 m hurdles at the 2000 World Junior Championship. She then initially failed to make an impact on senior competition, failing to make the final of two World Championships and then the 2004 Olympic Games. Anders Kallur
Anders Kallur (born July 6, 1952) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player. Kallur played for Modo Hockey and Södertälje SK before moving to Djurgårdens IF in 1978. He was awarded Guldpucken as the best player of the 1978–79 season. He was signed by New York Islanders in 1979 and played his entire North American career with that team (except for two games with Indianapolis Checkers). Together with fellow Swede Stefan Persson, Kallur was part of the first NHL team ( 1979-80 New York Islanders) to win a Stanley Cup with European-trained players on its roster. Scottish-born Dunc Munro of the Montreal Maroons was the first European-born player to win the Stanley Cup. Kallur played with the Islanders during all four of their Stanley Cup championships from 1980 to 1983. He is currently a scout in the New York Rangers organization focusing on European prospects. Kallur Archaeological Site
Kallur is an archaeological site and village located in the Manvi taluk of Raichur district in the state of Karnataka, India.Amalananda Ghosh (1990), p197 It belongs to Gulbarga division. The site came into prominence with the discovery of antennae swords in the 1930s, which was the first instance of the Copper Hoard culture being discovered in South India. The earliest finding here has been dated to the Neolithic period. Etymology The word ''Kallur'' is formed from two Kannada words: ''kallu'' which means "stone" and ''ooru'' which means "town". The number of granite hillocks that surround Kallur, may have given the place its name.
