Gisela Kallenbach
Gisela Kallenbach (born 28 March 1944, in Soldin, New March, now Myślibórz, Poland) is a German politician. She was a Member of the European Parliament for Alliance '90/The Greens, part of the European Greens, from 2004 to 2009. Since 2009, she has been a member of the Parliament of Saxony. From 2000 to 2003, she was International Mayor of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo. She was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2001. Due to her family background and Christian faith, she was denied the right to go to Gymnasium and take the Abitur by the East German communist regime. She eventually became an engineer and an English translator. From 1990 to 2000, she worked as an adviser for the city of Leipzig's environmental administration. Hermann Kallenbach
Hermann Kallenbach (1 March 1871 – 25 March 1945) was a Lithuanian-born Jewish South African architect who was one of the foremost friends and associates of Mahatma Gandhi. Kallenbach was introduced to the young Mohandas Gandhi while they were both working in South Africa and, after a series of discussions, they developed a long-lasting association. Early life Kallenbach was born in 1871 in Žemaičių Naumiestis, Lithuania (then part of the Russian Empire) as the third eldest out of seven children. His father, Kalman Leib Kallenbach, was a Hebrew teacher and, later, a timber merchant. Hermann's childhood centered on education, sports and friendships with the village youth. He would later study architecture in Stuttgart and Munich. In 1896, he went to South Africa to join his uncles in Johannesburg, where he practiced as an architect and became a South African citizen. Józef Kallenbach
Józef Henryk Kallenbach (24 November 1861 – 12 September 1929), born in Kamianets-Podilskyi, was a Polish historian of literature. Kallenbach graduated from the IV Public Male Gymnasium ''Jan Długosz'' of old-classical type in Lwów. He was a professor of Polish literary history at Lwów University (since 1904) and Jagiellon University. He was also a professor at the universities in Freiburg, Warsaw, and Wilno, a member of the Akademia Umiejętności, and a director of the Czartoryski Museum and Library in Kraków. He lectured about Polish pre-partitions literature and romanticism. During his work in Lwów he examined the works of Adam Mickiewicz, Zygmunt Krasiński, and Juliusz Słowacki. Some of his most notable works refer to the literature of Old Poland.
