Kalingapatnam Beach
Kalingapatnam Beach is located on the coast of Kalingapatnam, where Vamsadhara River empties into Bay of Bengal. It is located at a distance of 30 km from Srikakulam in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kalingapatnam Beach has been recognized by the State Government, with the state tourism board APTDC promoting it as a tourist destination. As it was an ancient harbor, it is equipped with a lighthouse where exporting of goods such as perfumes and textiles took place, before being closed during British rule. Kalingapatnam
Kalingapatnam is a village in Srikakulam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Gara, Srikakulam, Gara mandal of Srikakulam revenue division. It has one of the major beach sand deposits of the state. In medieval era it was famous for the ancient port city of Kalinga (historical region), Kalinga. Kalingapatnam is located at a distance of 26 km from the district headquarters and 17 km from Singupuram. Dargah Shariff of Shaik Madeena Acquiline is situated at this place. Vamsadhara River
River Vamsadhara or River Banshadhara is an important east flowing river between Rushikulya and Godavari, in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh states in India. The river originates in the border of Thuamul Rampur in the Kalahandi district and Kalyansinghpur in Rayagada district of Odisha and runs for a distance of about 254 kilometers, where it joins the Bay of Bengal at Kalingapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
