Kalervo Nissilä
Kaino Kalervo Nissilä (11 July 1913 – 30 March 1997) was a Finnish actor and a theatre leader. He is best remembered for such films as ''Härmästä poikia kymmenen'' (1950), ''Sadan miekan mies'' and ''Valkoinen peura'' (1952). Nissilä was also known as a singer. He gave concerts around Finland and made a guest appearance at the Finnish National Opera. ''Sadan miekan mies'' ("The Man of a Hundred Swords" in English) is a Finnish historical adventure comedy film from 1951 directed by Ilmari Unho. The film takes place in the 1630s in the Finnish county Varsinais-Suomi, and tells the story of a heroic swordsman on an assignment from the king, and on their journey, the swordsman and he's partner encounter foes and damsels. ''The White Reindeer'' ( fi, Valkoinen peura, sv, Den Vita Renen) is a 1952 Finnish horror drama film directed by Erik Blomberg in his feature film debut. It was entered in competition at the 1953 Cannes Film Festival and earned the Jean Cocteau-led jury special award for Best Fairy Tale Film. After its limited release five years later in the United States, it was one of five films to win the 1956 Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film. Plot The film, based on pre-Christian Finnish mythology and Sami shamanism, is set in Finnish Lapland and centers on a young woman, Pirita. The Finnish National Opera and Ballet ( fi, Suomen Kansallisooppera ja -baletti; sv, Finlands Nationalopera och -balett) is a Finnish opera company and ballet company based in Helsinki. It is headquartered in the Opera House on the coast of the Töölönlahti bay in Töölö, which opened in 1993, and is state-owned through Senate Properties. The Opera House features two auditoriums, the main auditorium with 1,350, seats and a smaller studio auditorium with 300–500 seats.
