Kaipa
Kaipa is a Swedish progressive metal band. History The band was formed as Ura Kaipa by Hans Lundin (keyboards) and Tomas Eriksson (bass). Roine Stolt joined Kaipa as guitarist when he was 17. In 1974, shortly after they had cut the "Ura" from the name of the band, they released their self-titled debut album. Stolt, who later founded The Flower Kings, left the group in 1979, after the album Solo. In 2014, original members Roine Stolt, Ingemar Bergman, and Tomas Eriksson re-grouped under the name Kaipa DaCapo to play the old music from the first three albums as well as brand new music. New members of the band are Mikael Stolt, brother of Roine, on vocals and guitar, and renowned Swedish musician Max Lorentz on keyboards. A new album was released in 2016, followed by a live album recorded in 2017. Roine Stolt
Roine Stolt (born 5 September 1956) is a Swedish guitarist, vocalist and composer. A major figure in Sweden's rock history, Stolt led two of his country's most successful progressive rock bands: Kaipa in the 1970s and The Flower Kings in the 1990s onward. Biography Stolt started his career in the late 1960s playing bass guitar in local rock bands. He switched to guitar in 1973 and in the brief sojourn with Allman Brothers-influenced Orexis. In 1974 he became the guitarist in Kaipa, a professional progressive rock band, he was 17 years old at that time, the group made three successful albums and toured more than 100 gigs a year, including national TV and radio performances in Scandinavia. In 1979 he left Kaipa to form his own group Fantasia and made two albums. The group split up in 1983 and Stolt started working as a solo and session musician, arranger and producer. Morgan Ågren
Morgan Ågren (born 1967) is a Swedish drummer who plays with the progressive rock band Kaipa. Biography A native of Umeå, Västerbotten, Ågren was spotted as an outstanding talent at a young age as he began performing publicly at age seven, and eventually joined forces with Mats Öberg in 1981. They later formed "Zappsteetoot" together in 1984, a band internationally known for performing Frank Zappa's music. In 1988, at the age of 20, Morgan Ågren was, along with Mats Öberg, invited by Frank Zappa to do a guest performance at Zappa's Stockholm concert. Impressed by Ågren's skills, Zappa invited Ågren to the States to partake in several projects, including the 1994 Grammy Award-winning CD ''Zappa's Universe'' with Steve Vai, as well as a sold out New York performance of Zappa's classical program at Lincoln Center's Great Performers Series in Avery Fisher Hall. Per Nilsson (guitarist)
Per Nilsson is a Swedish guitarist and producer. He is best known as one of the founding members of the melodic death metal/progressive metal band Scar Symmetry and for being the touring lead guitarist for Meshuggah during Fredrik Thordendal's 2017-2021 hiatus. He is also the guitarist for Swedish progressive rock group Kaipa and since 2017 he is the lead guitarist for Swedish power metal band Nocturnal Rites. In January 2013, Guitar Messenger released a guitar instructional DVD with Nilsson called ''Scar Guitar''. Until 2013, he was endorsed by Ibanez Guitars.
