Kai Verbij
Kai Verbij (born 25 September 1994) is a Dutch speed skater who is specialized in the sprint distances. His mother is Japanese, while his father is Dutch. Career Together with Ronald Mulder and Stefan Groothuis, Verbij won the team sprint event at the 2015–16 ISU Speed Skating World Cup event in Calgary on 14 November 2015. In January 2016 he won the title at the KNSB Dutch Sprint Championships The Dutch Sprint Championships of speed skating, organised by the KNSB, is the official Dutch championship to determine the Dutch Sprint champion. Leiderdorp () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland near the city of Leiden. It had a population of in . Ronald Mulder
Ronald Mulder (born 27 February 1986) is a Dutch speed skater. He won bronze in the men's 500 metres event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and finished sixth in the men's 500 metres event at the 2012 World Single Distance Championships. His twin brother, Michel Mulder, is also a speed skater. Both competed in The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland representing the Netherlands in 500 metres sprint and 200 metres time trial. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the men's 500 metres event, finishing in 7th place. Mulder is the current holder of the Dutch record on the 500 metres distance. Speed skating is a competitive form of ice skating in which the competitors racing, race each other in travelling a certain distance on Ice skate, skates. Types of speed skating are long track speed skating, short track speed skating, and marathon speed skating. 2019 European Speed Skating Championships
The 2019 European Speed Skating Championships took place in Collalbo, Italy from 11 to 13 January 2019. Skaters from 14 countries participated. It was the second time that the allround and sprint tournaments had taken place at the same time and venue. Sven Kramer and Ireen Wüst, both from the Netherlands, were the defending champions in the allround event. 2017 European Speed Skating Championships
The 2017 European Speed Skating Championships were held in Heerenveen, Netherlands, from 6 to 8 January 2017. Skaters from 12 countries participated. It was the first time that allround and sprint were held at the same time and venue. The event was originally planned to be held in Zakopane, Poland, but in October 2016, the Polish skating union informed the ISU that it was not able to organize the event. Sven Kramer of Netherlands and Martina Sáblíková of the Czech Republic were the defending champions in allround. Kramer successfully defended his allround title, winning a record 9th title overall, and Ireen Wüst of the Netherlands won her 5th allround title.
