Kai Møller
Kai Bisgaard Anker Møller (22 May 1859 – 22 September 1940) was a Norwegian land owner and politician. Biography Møller was born at Dyrendal near Halden in Østfold, Norway. He was the son of Edvard Johannes Møller (1819–85) and Diderikke Annette Anker (1838-1912). The family moved to Thorsø Manor (''Thorsø herregård'') at Torsnes when his father took over the estate. He attended Christiania Cathedral School and graduated in 1877. He graduated from the College of Agriculture (''Høiere landbruksskole'') (now Norwegian University of Life Sciences) at Ås in Akershus during 1880. This was followed by studies in Denmark and the United Kingdom. In 1885 he took over the Thorsø estate. He served as mayor of Torsnes for several years and held a number of other municipal positions. Halden
Halden (), between 1665 and 1928 known as Fredrikshald, is both a town and a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The municipality borders Sarpsborg to the northwest, Rakkestad to the north and Aremark to the east, as well as the Swedish municipalities Strömstad, Tanum and Dals-Ed respectively to the southwest, south and southeast. The seat of the municipality, Halden is a border town located at the mouth of the Tista river on the Iddefjord, the southernmost border crossing between Norway and Sweden. The town of Halden is located about south of Oslo, north of Gothenburg, and east of the border crossing at Svinesund Bridge, Svinesund. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. Jørgen Blydt
Jørgen Blydt (14 March 1868 – 28 April 1938) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician for the Liberal Party. He ran for parliamentary election in all four of Bergen county's constituencies at the time—Kalfaret, Nordnes, Sandviken and Nygaard—and served two terms as an MP (1900–1903 and 1916–1918). He ran a company with his brother-in-law, was a stock exchange commissary, and from 1932 to 1938 he was the Chancellor of the Order Council. Career He was born in Bergen as a son of merchant Hans Schultz Blydt (1830–1916) and Maren Breder Hagelsteen (1834–1870). He finished Bergen Commerce School before taking education in France, England and Belgium between 1886 and 1889. He took over his father's company which traded in fishing and angling tools in 1891, and ran it together with his brother-in-law Hjalmar Grung as ''Blydt & Grung''. He retired in 1929. Christian Michelsen
Peter Christian Hersleb Kjerschow Michelsen (15 March 1857 – 29 June 1925), better known as Christian Michelsen, was a Norwegian shipping magnate and statesman. He was the first prime minister of independent Norway and Norway's 9th prime minister from 1905 to 1907. Michelsen is most known for his central role in the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden in 1905, and was one of Norway's most influential politicians of his time. Herman Anker
Herman Anker (15 July 1839 – 9 August 1896) was a Norwegian school teacher and educationalist. He was born at Rød Manor in Halden, a son of wholesaler Peter Martin Anker. He was the brother of Christian August Anker, and father of Katti Anker Møller and Ella Anker. He went to the Latin School at Fredrikshald and took school graduation in 1857. He attended the University of Christiania earning his theological degree in 1863. As a theological student in Copenhagen, he had met Grundtvig and became introduced to his thought on education and the development of the folk high school movement. In 1864 along with Olaus Arvesen, he founded Sagatun Folk High School at Hamar. This was the first folk high school in Norway.
