Kagodu Thimmappa
Kagodu Thimmappa (born 10 September 1932) is an Indian retired politician who was the 21st speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and member of the Indian National Congress and a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elected from the Sagar (Vidhana Sabha constituency), Sagar. He became the Speaker of the 14th Assembly in May 2013. He served as the Minister of Revenue and Muzrai in the Siddaramaiah cabinet between 2016 and 2018, before retiring from active politics. Early life and education Kagodu Thimmappa was born in Kagodu, Sagar Taluk, Karnataka, from Sagar Town. He was the third son of Savaji Beera Nayaka and Byramma. He completed his primary education in nearby Hirenallur and High school studies in Sagar. Then he took B.Com., B.L. Degrees in Bangalore. He worked as a lawyer in Sagar for some time. Sarekoppa Bangarappa
Sarekoppa Bangarappa (26 October 1933 – 26 December 2011) was an Indian politician who was the 12th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1990 to 1992. He served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Karnataka between 1967 and 1996, before contesting a series of six elections for the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 2009, of which he lost two. He founded both the Karnataka Vikas Party and the Karnataka Congress Party during a 44-year career in which his supporters called him ''Solillada Saradara'' (a leader who cannot be defeated). As well as these two parties, Bangarappa was at various times a member of the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal (Secular), and his critics described him as a party-hopper because of this. 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The election was postponed in Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, following the death of the MLA B. N. Vijaya Kumar and a voter fraud scandal respectively till 28 May. The election saw a voter turnout of 72.13 per cent, the highest in Karnataka since 1952 assembly polls. The counting of votes took place on 15 May 2018. The Indian National Congress (INC) was seeking re-election, having governed the state since elections in 2013. while the Bharatiya Janta Party attempted to regain office, having previously governed the state in 2007 and from 2008 to 2013.
