Kagirinaki Zenshin
is a film directed by Tomu Uchida that was released in 1937. It received the 1938 Kinema Junpo Award for Best Film. The protagonist, Tokumaru, is laid off from his corporate job. Tomu Uchida
, born Tsunejirō Uchida on 26 April 1898, was a Japanese film director. The stage name "Tomu" translates to “spit out dreams”. Early career Uchida started out at the Taikatsu studio in the early 1920s, but came to prominence at Nikkatsu, adapting literary works with the screenwriter Yasutarō Yagi in a realist style. His 1929 film ''A Living Puppet'' (''Ikeru ningyo'') was selected as the fourth best film of the year by the film journal, ''Kinema Junpo''. Many of his 1930s films featured the actor Isamu Kosugi. One such work, ''Policeman'' (''Keisatsukan''), has been called "a tremendously stylish gangster movie about the love-hate relationship between a cop and a criminal, once childhood friends". It is Uchida’s only surviving complete silent film. (3 February 1903 – 8 September 1987) was a Japanese screenwriter, mostly famous for his adaptations of literary works for the director Tomu Uchida in the 1930s, such as '' Jinsei gekijō'' and ''Kagirinaki zenshin'', and for his collaborations with leftist filmmakers such as Kaneto Shindo and Tadashi Imai in the postwar period. was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. He began his career during the era of silent films, and his last films were made in colour in the early 1960s. was a Japanese actor and film director. Career Born in Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture, Kosugi first studied at the Nihon Eiga Haiyū Gakkō before joining the Nikkatsu studio in 1925. He came to prominence in tendency films such as '' Ikeru ningyō'' (1929). He was the lead player in a series of critically acclaimed realist films made at Nikkatsu's Tamagawa studio in the 1930s, particularly Tomu Uchida's ''Jinsei gekijō'' (1936) and '' Tsuchi'' (1939) and Tomotaka Tasaka's war films, '' Gonin no sekkōhei'' (1938) and ''Mud and Soldiers'' (1939). , commonly called , is Japan's oldest film magazine and began publication in July 1919. It was first published three times a month, using the Japanese ''Jun'' (旬) system of dividing months into three parts, but the postwar ''Kinema Junpō'' has been published twice a month. The magazine was founded by a group of four students, including Saburō Tanaka, at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Technical High School at the time). In that first month, it was published three times on days with a "1" in them. These first three issues were printed on art paper and had four pages each. ''Kinejun'' initially specialized in covering foreign films, in part because its writers sided with the principles of the Pure Film Movement and strongly criticized Japanese cinema. is a Japanese entertainment company known for its film and television productions. It is Japan's oldest major movie studio, founded in 1912 during the silent film era. The name ''Nikkatsu'' amalgamates the words Nippon Katsudō Shashin, literally "Japan Motion Pictures". Shareholders are Nippon Television Holdings (35%) and SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (28.4%).
