Governorates Of Egypt
Egypt has a centralised system of local government officially called local administration as it is a branch of the Executive. The country is divided into twenty-seven governorates ( '; ; genitive case: ; plural: '), the top tier of local administration. A governorate is administered by a governor, who is appointed by the President of Egypt and serves at the president's discretion. Governors have the civilian rank of minister and report directly to the prime minister, who chairs the Board of Governors ''(majlis al-muhafzin)'' and meets with them on a regular basis. The Minister of Local Development coordinates the governors and their governorate's budgets. Overview Egypt generally has four tiers of local administration units: governorates, cities, counties ''(marakiz)'', districts (subdivisions of cities) and villages (subdivisions of counties). It is bordered to the west by the Beheira Governorate. Desouk dates back to at least c. 3200 BC and was part of the ancient city of Buto before the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. From 1250 to 1517, the city of Desouk was part of the Gharbia province. From 1798 to 1801, it was part of the now-defunct Rosetta province. Etymology The city's name could be derived from , attested on a statuette from Sais dating to the Third Intermediate Period, through . The cult of Sobek had presence to the west of Disuq, on the other side of the Nile. Other proposal derives it from the rare Arabic verb ''dasaqa'' "to overflow (about a basin)" and its nominal form ''daysaq'' "bassin full of water" which in turn has its origin in , but it is considered unplausible. Another improbable etymology is a Copto-Arabic ...

Arabic Language
Arabic (, ' ; , ' or ) is a Semitic language spoken primarily across the Arab world.Semitic languages: an international handbook / edited by Stefan Weninger; in collaboration with Geoffrey Khan, Michael P. Streck, Janet C. E.Watson; Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co. KG, Berlin/Boston, 2011. Having emerged in the 1st century, it is named after the Arab people; the term "Arab" was initially used to describe those living in the Arabian Peninsula, as perceived by geographers from ancient Greece. Since the 7th century, Arabic has been characterized by diglossia, with an opposition between a standard prestige language—i.e., Literary Arabic: Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) or Classical Arabic—and diverse vernacular varieties, which serve as mother tongues. Colloquial dialects vary significantly from MSA, impeding mutual intelligibility. MSA is only acquired through formal education and is not spoken natively. It is the language of literature, official documents, and formal wr ...

Burullus Lake Sunset
Lake Burullus ( ar, بحيرة البرلس, Buḥayrat al-Burullus; grc-gre, λίμνη Σεβεννυτική, limnē Sebennytikē) is a brackish water lake in the Nile Delta in Egypt, the name coming from Burullus town ( cop, Ϯⲡⲁⲣⲁⲗⲓⲁ, from Ancient Greek παράλιος, "''coast, seaside''" or ⲛⲓⲕⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ''Nikejow''). It is located in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate east of Rosetta, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea in the north and agricultural land to the south. History In the early Islamic period, the port of Burullus was situated near the mouth of the lake (the place where it was connected to the sea through a small opening). Burullus port functioned as one of the defensive frontier settlements of the Nile Delta coast. An island settlement within the lake called Nastaru lent its name to the lake as a whole. Canals connected the lake to the Rosetta branch of the Nile. At this time the lake was growing and expanding southwards as a result of changes ...
