Kadampanad Church
St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Kadampanad, popularly known as Kadampanad Church ( കടമ്പനാട് പള്ളി ) is an ancient church of Saint Thomas Christians situated in the Central Travancore village of Kadampanad, in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India. This Church belongs to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church under the Diocese of Adoor-Kadampanad. History Kadampanad church is one of the oldest churches of St. Thomas Christians in Kerala. Mar Thoma Sliha (St. Thomas), an Apostle of Jesus Christ, came to India in AD 52 and established a Christian community in Kerala. There is evidence that he established eight churches (known as Ezharapallikal). One among them was at Chayal (Nilackel), situated in the western ghats. Kadampanad
Kadampanad grama panchayath is the southernmost part of Pathanamthitta district. It comes under Parakkode block of Adoor taluk. The panchayath shared boundaries with Erathu panchayath in the north, Ezhamkulam panchayath in the east, Kunnathur panchayath and Kalladayar in the south and Pallikkal and Poruvazhy Panchayaths in the west. Kakkathikkunnu in the north and Pandimalakkunnu (Pandimalappuram) in the south stands as two strong forts in this panchayath which balances the climatic conditions of this area. Kadampanad, Kallukuzhi, Thuvayoor and Mannadi areas form Kadampanad panchayath. Mannadi is known as the place where Veluthambi Dalawa, the great freedom fighter, died. Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Paulose II (born K. I. Paul at west mangad ); 30 August 1946 – 12 July 2021) was the primate of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Kannamcode Cathedral or Kannamcode St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral is one of the oldest churches in Central Travancore. The church belongs to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church under 'Adoor-Kadampanad' diocese. St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral (Thumpamon Valiya Pally or തുമ്പമണ് വലിയ പള്ളി or Marthamariyam Badrasana Devalayam) is an Orthodox ancient church located in Thumpamon near Pandalam, Kerala state of India. It is the headquarters of the Thumpamon Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The first church was built in AD 717. The Architectural style of the church is Gothic Revival style. The Pakalomattam family is an ancient Marthoma Nasrani ( Syrian Christian) family in Kerala, India. According to the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the family "solely supplied bishops and archdeacons to the Church n Indiatill the beginning of the nineteenth century."
