Płock (pronounced ) is a city in central Poland, on the Vistula river, in the Masovian Voivodeship. According to the data provided by GUS on 31 December 2021, there were 116,962 inhabitants in the city. Its full ceremonial name, according to the preamble to the City Statute, is ''Stołeczne Książęce Miasto Płock'' (the Princely or Ducal Capital City of Płock). The Polish Cup in football ( pl, Puchar Polski w piłce nożnej ) is an elimination tournament for Polish football clubs, held continuously from 1950, and is the second most important national title in Polish football after the Ekstraklasa title. Due to mass participation of teams, the tournament is often called ''The Cup of the Thousand Teams'' ( pl, Puchar Tysiąca Drużyn ). Participation is open to any club registered with the Polish FA, regardless of whether it competes in any league in the national pyramid. Reserve and veteran teams are also eligible, with reserve teams reaching the final on two occasions (and winning it once). The Cup is popular among lower-level teams, as it gives them a chance to play better known sides. 2021–22 I Liga
The 2021–22 I liga (also known as Fortuna I liga due to sponsorship reasons) is the 74th season of the second tier domestic division in the Polish football league system since its establishment in 1949 and the 14th season of the Polish I liga under its current title. The league is operated by the PZPN. The regular season is being played as a round-robin tournament. A total of 18 teams participate, 14 of which competed in the league campaign during the previous season, while one to be relegated from the 2020–21 Ekstraklasa and the remaining three to be promoted from the 2020–21 II liga. The season started on 30 July 2021 and will conclude on 22 May 2022. Each team will play a total of 34 matches, half at home and half away.
