Kaaviya Thalaivan (2014 Film)
''Kaaviya Thalaivan'' () is a 2014 Indian Tamil language, Tamil-language historical drama film written and directed by Vasanthabalan and produced by S. Sashikanth and Varun Manian under their production companies YNOT Studios and Radiance Media Group. It stars Siddharth (actor), Siddharth, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prithviraj, Vedhika and Anaika Soti while Nassar (actor), Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, Ponvannan, Mansoor Ali Khan (actor), Mansoor Ali Khan and others appear in supporting roles. Music composed by A. R. Rahman. Set in the early 20th century, the film is about the lives of two theatre artistes and the competition that exists between them in a small drama troupe. Vasanthabalan
Vasanthabalan (sometimes credited as Vasantha Balan) is an Indian Tamil film director and screenwriter, known for his Tragedy Films in Tamil Cinema. He has made critically acclaimed films including ''Veyil'' (2006), ''Angadi Theru'' (2010) and '' Kaaviya Thalaivan'' (2014). Career Vasanthabalan began his film career as an editing assistant and later became an assistant director to S.Shankar in the latter's directorial debut, ''Gentleman'' (1993). Ponvannan
Ponvannan (born Shanmugam; 23 September 1963) is an Indian actor and director who has worked in Tamil cinema and television. After beginning his career as an artist (painter), Ponvannan apprenticed as a director and writer under Bharathiraja. He subsequently made his directorial debut with ''Annai Vayal'' (1992), before making the critically acclaimed venture, ''Nadhi Karaiyinile'' (2003). He has since appeared as a supporting actor in films, winning acclaim for his role in films including ''Paruthiveeran'' (2007), '' Ayan'' (2009) and '' Kaaviya Thalaivan'' (2014). Vijay Awards
The Vijay Awards are presented by the Tamil television channel STAR Vijay to honour excellence in Tamil cinema. It has been given annually since 2006, with the latest—the 10th edition—of the award-giving ceremony having been held in May 2018. Tamil Nadu State Film Awards
Tamil Nadu State Film Awards were given for excellence in Tamil cinema in India. They were given annually to honour the best talents and provide encouragement and incentive to the South Indian film industry by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The awards were decided by a committee headed by a Judge. The awards were first given in 1967 and discontinued after 1970. The awards were given again in 1977 and continued till 1982. The awards were not given in the years 1971 to 1976. However, in the year 1977, the awards for Best Actress and Best Actor were announced for the years 1971 to 1976 by way of honorary certificates by the government led by the then chief minister M.G.Ramachandran.
