Kaalia
''Kaalia'' is a 1981 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film, written and directed by Tinnu Anand, and produced by Iqbal Singh. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan (in the title role), Parveen Babi, Asha Parekh, Kader Khan, Pran, Amjad Khan, K.N. Singh and Jagdeep. The music is by R.D. Burman, while the lyrics are by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The film was the 8th highest grossing Indian film of 1981. It was later remade in Kannada in 1984 as ''Huliyaada Kaala'' starring Tiger Prabhakar and in Tamil in 1987 as ''Cooliekkaran'' starring Vijayakanth. The film was another classic from Bachchan's "angry young man" era and helped cement his status as a superstar. The film is also remembered for having the classic upbeat song "Jahan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai" (sung by Kishore Kumar). Parveen Babi (4 April 1954 – 20 January 2005) was an Indian actress and model. Recognized for her roles in Hindi films throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Babi was known for her "glamorous" acting style, and was one of the highest-paid actresses. ''Cooliekkaran'' () is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Rajasekhar and produced by S. Thanu. The film stars Vijayakanth and Rupini, in her Tamil cinema debut. It is a remake of the Hindi film ''Kaalia'' (1981). The film was released on 6 June 1987. Through this film Vijayakanth got the title "Puratchi Kalaignar" (), bestowed upon him by Thanu. Plot Raja lives with his elder brother Velu, sister-in-law Lakshmi, and their little daughter. He spends his time idle and is scolded by Velu. Raja decides to become a coolie and transport articles. Unfortunately, he is jailed for smuggling. Velu also gets into an accident at work at the mill and loses his arms and job, while also needing money for treatment. Hamid Ali Murad (24 September 1911 – 24 April 1997) known simply as Murad was an Indian character actor who appeared in more than 100 Hindi language films from the early 1940s through to the end of the 1980s, playing character roles of a father, police officer, judge and an emperor. Purnima Das Verma (born Meherbhano Mohammad Ali; 2 March 1934 — 14 August 2013) was an Indian actress who worked predominantly in Hindi-language films. Inder Raj Anand (died 6 March 1987) was an Indian film dialogue and screenwriter in Hindi cinema, who worked on many Raj Kapoor films, starting with ''Aag (1948 film), Aag'' (1948), ''Aah (film), Aah'' (1953), ''Anari (1959 film), Anari'' (1959) and ''Sangam (1964 Hindi film), Sangam'' (1963). Tinu Anand (born Virender Raj Anand, 12 October 1945) is an Indian actor, director, writer and producer in Hindi cinema and a few Telugu and Tamil films. Early life He is the son of veteran writer Inder Raj Anand, brother of producer Bittu Anand and uncle of director Siddharth Anand. He did his schooling from Mayo College in India.
