KW – Das Heizkraftwerk was a nightclub in Munich, Germany from 1996 to 2003. The techno club belonged, besides the '' Tresor'' and '' E-Werk'' in Berlin, the ''Dorian Gray'' and ''Omen'' in Frankfurt, and the Munich-based clubs ''Ultraschall'', ''Natraj Temple'' and ''Millennium'', to the most renowned clubs of Germany's 1990s techno culture. History and description The nightclub, which in everyday language often was just called ''KW'' or ''Kraftwerk'' (English: power plant), opened in 1996 in a former combined heat and power plant on the grounds of the ''Kunstpark Ost'', a former factory site of 90.000 m2 close to the Ostbahnhof train station in Munich's Berg am Laim district. Munich East station (german: Bahnhof München Ost, also called ''München Ostbahnhof'' in regional services) is a railway station in Munich, the state capital of Bavaria, Germany. Francis Warren Nicholls, Jr. (January 18, 1955 – March 31, 2014), better known as Frankie Knuckles, was an American DJ, record producer and remixer. He played an important role in developing and popularizing house music in Chicago during the 1980s, when the genre was in its infancy. Carlos Sosa (born November 5, 1969), known as DJ Sneak, is a Puerto Rican-born American DJ and record producer raised in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is noted as being one of the second wave of Chicago house producers, (alongside Derrick Carter, Cajmere/Green Velvet, Gemini, James Curd and Paul Johnson) as well as a member of the vanguard of late-1990s United States house producers. Masters at Work is the American garage house production and remix team of "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez. The duo has produced music together under the names MAW, KenLou, Sole Fusion, Hardrive, and Nuyorican Soul. They have been referred to as one of the most influential artists in the history of house music. Biography In the late 1980s, Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez organized a series of block parties with his friend Mike Delgado under the name "Masters at Work".
