KWVR-FM (92.1 Hertz, MHz, "Music Country") is a radio station city of license, licensed to serve Enterprise, Oregon, United States. The station, which began broadcasting in 1987, is owned by Wallowa Valley Radio, LLC. Programming KWVR-FM broadcasts a full-service country music format including local and regional news as well as community affairs programming. In addition to its usual music and news programming, KWVR-FM carries select sporting events as an affiliate of the Oregon State Beavers Radio Network. History This station received its original construction permit from the FCC on June 12, 1984 in radio, 1984. The new station was assigned the call letters KWVR-FM by the FCC on July 3, 1984. In June 1984, Tri-State Communications Corporation, Inc., reached an agreement to transfer the permit for this still-under construction station to the Wallowa Valley Radio Broadcasting Corporation, a company wholly owned by Lee D. The station, established in 1960, and its FM sister station KWVR-FM are currently owned by Wallowa Valley Radio, LLC. The Oregon State Beavers are the athletic teams that represent Oregon State University, located in Corvallis, Oregon. The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) is a nonprofit organization created by women in 1951 that works to support women in the media in the United States. About The mission of the organization is to "advance the impact of women in broadcasting and related fields." Its members also provide support for educational programs and scholarships, and do charity work and other public service activities. Joseph, Oregon
Joseph is a city in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. Originally named Silver Lake and Lake City, the city formally named itself in 1880 for Chief Joseph (1840–1904) of the Nez Perce people. The population was 1,081 at the 2010 census. History Joseph was platted in 1883, and the economy was originally based around agriculture, especially grain and stock. In 1896 the First Bank of Joseph was robbed, one robber was shot and killed, another shot and captured, and a third escaped with the money. On occasion there have been reenactments of the robbery. After a railroad line was completed to Joseph in 1908, a lumber mill opened, bolstering the economy. When the timber industry collapsed in the 1980s, local unemployment rate approached 17%. However, in 1982 a new industry was born as three bronze foundries opened in the local area. ''Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt'' (or ''Hinmatóowyalahtq̓it'' in Americanist orthography), popularly known as Chief Joseph, Young Joseph, or Joseph the Younger (March 3, 1840 – September 21, 1904), was a leader of the Wal-lam-wat-kain (Wallowa) band of Nez Perce, a Native American tribe of the interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States, in the latter half of the 19th century. He succeeded his father Tuekakas (Chief Joseph the Elder) in the early 1870s. The ''East Oregonian'' (''EO'') is a daily newspaper published in Pendleton, Oregon, United States and covering Umatilla and Morrow counties. The ''EO'' was the first-place winner of the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association General Excellence award in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. History The newspaper was established in 1875 by M.P. Bull, as a weekly. In 1882, C. S. "Sam" Jackson purchased the ''EO''.
