KVOF-TV
KVOF-TV was a television station that broadcast on channel 38 in San Francisco from 1968 to 1985. It was last owned by the Faith Broadcasting Network, controlled by pastor W. Eugene Scott, and was one of three television stations he owned; prior to its existence as a Christian station, it was built as independent station KUDO before going bankrupt in 1971 and being off the air for more than three years. It broadcast from San Bruno Mountain. KVOF-TV's license renewal was dismissed in 1983 for failure to answer requests for documents in a comparative hearing that started when three other groups had already filed their own proposals for channel 38; this took place after other proceedings involving misuse of funds by Faith Center led to the dismissal of the license of Faith's other California station, KHOF-TV channel 30 in San Bernardino. KCNS
KCNS (channel 38) is a television station licensed to San Francisco, California, United States, serving the San Francisco Bay Area. Owned by WRNN-TV Associates, the station airs programming from ShopHQ. KCNS shares its digital channel with KMTP-TV (channel 32), KTNC-TV (channel 42), and KEMO-TV (channel 50). Their transmitter is located atop Sutro Tower in San Francisco. History KUDO and KVOF-TV The first channel 38 signed on the air on December 28, 1968, as KUDO. With a lineup heavy on live and local shows, including financial programming during the morning and early afternoon hours and even an interview show hosted by Willie Mays, KUDO failed financially; it went bankrupt and fell dark on April 15, 1971. Faith Broadcasting Network was a Christian television network owned and operated by the Faith Center church in Glendale, California. Until the mid-1980s, FBN owned and operated WHCT-TV 18 in Hartford, Connecticut (now Univision affiliate WUVN), KVOF-TV 38 in San Francisco (now KCNS), and KHOF-TV (today's KPXN-TV) 30 in San Bernardino, CA. During the same era the Faith Center owned and operated KHOF-FM which was licensed in the city of Los Angeles, CA. Gene Scott
William Eugene Scott (August 14, 1929 – February 21, 2005) was an American minister and teacher who served for almost 50 years as a pastor and broadcaster in Los Angeles, California. He pastored the Faith Center and Wescott Christian Center and held weekly Sunday services at the Los Angeles University Cathedral. Scott was known for his flamboyant persona when he presented late-night evangelistic television broadcasts. Early life and career Gene Scott was born in Buhl, Idaho. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophies of Education at Stanford University in 1957 and subsequently served as an ordained minister for nearly five decades. WUVN (channel 18) is a television station licensed to Hartford, Connecticut, United States, serving the Hartford–New Haven television market as an affiliate of the Spanish-language Univision network. Oat Mountain (California)
Oat Mountain is a peak of the Santa Susana Mountains overlooking the San Fernando Valley (near Los Angeles, California) to the south and southeast. Oat Mountain is the highest peak in the Santa Susana Mountains of California. The Los Angeles district of Chatsworth is to the south of the mountain. There are many microwave relay antennas as well as Doppler weather equipment at Oat Mountain. SoCal Gas has several wells in the area as well. Anita Jane Bryant (born March 25, 1940) is an American singer known for anti-gay activism. She scored four "Top 40" hits in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including " Paper Roses" which reached No. 5 on the charts. She was the 1958 Miss Oklahoma beauty pageant winner, and a brand ambassador from 1969 to 1980 for the Florida Citrus Commission. In the 1970s, Bryant became known as an outspoken opponent of gay rights in the U.S. In 1977, she ran the "Save Our Children" campaign to repeal a local ordinance in Miami-Dade County, Florida, that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
