KUVM-CD, virtual channel 34 ( UHF digital channel 20), is a low-powered, Class A LATV- affiliated television station licensed to Houston, Texas, United States. The station is owned by HC2 Holdings. KUVM-CD's transmitter is located near Missouri City, in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County. History The station began as a construction permit in Victoria, Texas, granted to Community Television of Victoria. Planned as a translator of San Antonio television station KWEX-TV, to broadcast on UHF channel 25, the new station was almost immediately displaced by new full-service station KAVU-TV. It was instead built on UHF channel 55 and was licensed as K55CP on November 30, 1981. By 1982, it was on the air with programs from the Satellite Program Network. KUVM-LD
KUVM-LD, virtual and VHF digital channel 10, is a low-powered television station serving Houston, Texas, United States that is licensed to Missouri City. The station is owned by HC2 Holdings. History The station began in 2007 on channel 10 with the call sign K10PY-D. The station converted to digital transmission in October 2009, initially running a simulcast of KHLM until that station obtained a digital signal of its own, and later replacing it with the Azteca América programming of former analog station KUVM-CA, and changing its call sign to KUVM-LD on October 9, 2009. The station's signal moved to channel 40 from the Missouri City tower farm on July 24, 2010. On April 25, 2010, Azteca América programming began airing on KNWS, which Una Vez Más Holdings had contracted to buy. KUVM-LD dropped Azteca América from its 4th subchannel on January 25, 2011. Una Vez Más Holdings, LLC was the owner of a group of low-power television stations, mostly in the Southwest, and was the largest Azteca América affiliate group in the United States. Based in Dallas, Texas, Una Vez Más (Spanish for ''One More Time'') owned 31 low-power television stations in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Florida, 25 of which are operational, and eleven of which are Class A television stations. Randy Nonberg was President and COO of Una Vez Mas, Terry Crosby was Chairman and CEO, and Nora Crosby was Vice-President of Operations. On October 22, 2009; Una Vez Más has announced that it would be absorbing Johnson Broadcasting's portfolio after that broadcasting firm filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter).
