KUSU-TV, very high frequency, VHF analog television, analog channel 12, was a non-commercial educational television station city of license, licensed to Logan, Utah, Logan, Utah, United States, which broadcast from 1964 until 1970. The station was owned by Utah State University. It went dark (broadcasting), dark in 1970 as part of a consolidation plan to unify Utah's fragmented educational television landscape and replaced with a translator of KUED-TV in Salt Lake City. History The channel 12 construction permit was first obtained by a proposed commercial broadcasting, commercial station for Logan, KVNU-TV, to be co-owned with KVNU radio (610 AM). KOET, very high frequency, VHF analog television, analog channel 9, was a non-commercial educational television station city of license, licensed to Ogden, Utah, Ogden, Utah, United States, which broadcast from 1960 until 1973. After 1962, the station was operated by the Ogden City School District and broadcast instructional programming for students in its schools. It also broadcast evening programming from National Educational Television (NET). In 1971, KOET merged with KWCS-TV, the station operated by the Weber School District, Weber County School District, on KOET's license. Two years later, however, Weber County pulled out, and the district was hamstrung by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s refusal to reclassify KOET as a commercial broadcasting, commercial station in finding buyers for its license and facilities. KWCS-TV, UHF analog channel 18, was a non-commercial educational television station licensed to Ogden, Utah, United States, which broadcast from 1960 until the early 1970s. Owned by Weber County Schools, the station broadcast instructional programming for students in the county's elementary and junior high schools. It also broadcast evening programming from National Educational Television (NET). KWCS-TV itself disappeared after being merged with KOET, the station operated by the Ogden City Board of Education; Weber County pulled out of the partnership in 1973, a move which also prompted the closure of the Ogden school board's station. Very high frequency (VHF) is the ITU designation for the range of radio frequency electromagnetic waves ( radio waves) from 30 to 300 megahertz (MHz), with corresponding wavelengths of ten meters to one meter. Frequencies immediately below VHF are denoted high frequency (HF), and the next higher frequencies are known as ultra high frequency (UHF).
