KUPT (TV)
KUPT, virtual and UHF digital channel 29, is a Cozi TV- owned-and-operated television station licensed to Hobbs, New Mexico, United States. Owned by the Telemundo Station Group subsidiary of NBCUniversal, it is a sister station of KUPT-LD in Albuquerque, New Mexico. KUPT's transmitter is located south of the East Seminole Highway in Hobbs, New Mexico. History In 1995, KUPT-LP began broadcasting with the advent of the United Paramount Network ( UPN). KUPT's first broadcast featured a continuous marathon telecast of the original ''Star Trek'' television series. Following the marathon, the station broadcast a locally produced Texas Tech University football game from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The station also broadcast UPN network programming and syndicated programming, which included '' Star Trek: Voyager''. Ultra High Frequency
Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). Radio waves with frequencies above the UHF band fall into the super-high frequency (SHF) or microwave frequency range. Lower frequency signals fall into the VHF (very high frequency) or lower bands. UHF radio waves propagate mainly by Line-of-sight propagation, line of sight; they are blocked by hills and large buildings although the transmission through building walls is strong enough for indoor reception. KUPT-LD
KUPT-LD, virtual channels 2 and 16 ( UHF digital channel 32), is a low-power Movies!- affiliated television station licensed to Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. Owned by the Telemundo Station Group subsidiary of NBCUniversal, it is sister to Telemundo owned-and-operated station KASA-TV (channel 2), KTEL-CD (channel 15), and KRTN-LD (channel 33). KUPT-LD's transmitter is located at Sandia Crest. History KUPT-LD has been on the air since late August 2014 airing both Movies! and GetTV. In early February 2015, H&I was added and became the main channel but in May it moved to channel 16.3 with Movies! returning to 16.1. On February 2, 2016, GetTV moved to CBS affiliate KRQE's second digital subchannel, and then later to KASY-TV channel 50.3 on January 14, 2017. On January 18, 2017, Ramar Communications took over the operations of KASA-TV a full powered station and former Fox network affiliate.
