KUBX-LP, UHF analog television, analog channel 58, was a low-power broadcasting#Television, low-powered Independent station (North America), independent television station city of license, licensed to Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Founded January 22, 1992, the station was owned by Equity Media Holdings. History Until January 4, 2009, KUBX was an affiliate of the Retro Television Network (RTN), operating as a Broadcast translator, translator for Four Points Media Group-owned KUSG from St. George, Utah, St. George. On that date, a contract conflict between Equity and Luken Communications, LLC (who had acquired RTN in June 2008) interrupted the programming on many RTN affiliates. As a result, Luken moved RTN operations to its headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and dropped all Equity-owned affiliates, including KUBX, immediately. KMYU
KMYU (channel 12) is a television station licensed to St. George, Utah, United States, serving as the MyNetworkTV affiliate for the state of Utah. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group alongside Salt Lake City–based CBS affiliate KUTV (channel 2) and independent station KJZZ-TV (channel 14). The stations share studios on South Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City, while KMYU's transmitter is located atop Webb Hill, south of downtown St. George. Outside of southwestern Utah, KMYU is broadcast statewide on KUTV and its dependent translators (as subchannel 2.2), and KUTV is similarly rebroadcast by KMYU. KUTV's plans to install a high-power station in southern Utah dated to the late 1980s, but while KUTV began selling local advertising on its existing southern Utah transmitters in 1993, what was then known as KUSG did not begin broadcasting until 1999. Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). Four Points Media Group was a holding company owned by Cerberus Capital Management, established in 2007 to serve as a buyer for 7 television stations formerly owned by CBS Corporation. The company took over the day-to-day operations of the stations via local marketing agreements on June 25. The acquisition of the stations was granted FCC approval on November 21, 2007, and closed on January 10, 2008. KUTV, the CBS affiliate in Salt Lake City, served as the master-control hub facility for Four Points' stations. As such, it served as the "flagship" station of the group. KEYE-TV in Austin, Texas, the other CBS affiliate owned by Four Points, was the only station not controlled by the KUTV hub facility. KUTF (channel 12) is a religious television station licensed to Logan, Utah, United States, serving the Salt Lake City area as an owned-and-operated station of the Daystar Television Network. The station's transmitter is located on Cal Mountain near Tremonton, Utah. History The channel 12 frequency in Logan previously belonged to KUSU-TV, a non-commercial educational station owned and operated by Utah State University which broadcast from 1964 to 1970, while the call letters KUTF originally belonged to the CW affiliate in Portland/Salem, Oregon, now KRCW-TV.
