KTVU (channel 36) was a television station in Stockton, California, United States, which broadcast from December 18, 1953, to April 30, 1955. An independent station (North America), independent station and later an NBC affiliate, KTVU failed because of economic problems common to early UHF television broadcasting, UHF television stations. Construction and operation When the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) lifted its four-year freeze on new television station applications in 1952, it designated 70 new UHF channels, including channel 36, which was allocated to Stockton. Sutro Tower
Sutro Tower is a unique three-legged tall TV and radio lattice tower located in San Francisco, California. Rising from a hill between Twin Peaks and Mount Sutro near Clarendon Heights, it is a prominent feature of the city skyline and a landmark for city residents and visitors. The tower was the tallest structure in San Francisco from the time of its completion in 1973 until it was surpassed by the Salesforce Tower in 2017. The tower is named after the family of Adolph Sutro, a businessman and former mayor of San Francisco. His grandson, Adolph Gilbert Sutro, built a mansion, ''La Avanzada'', on their property in the highest peaks of San Francisco. San Bruno Mountain
San Bruno Mountain is horst fault block mountain located in northern San Mateo County, California; with some northern slopes crossing over into southern San Francisco, it is also surrounded by San Francisco Bay and the cities of Brisbane, Colma, Daly City, and South San Francisco.
