KTBU (channel 55) is a television station licensed to Conroe, Texas, United States, broadcasting the digital multicast network Quest to the Houston area. It is owned and operated by Tegna Inc. alongside CBS affiliate KHOU (channel 11). Both stations share studios on Westheimer Road near Uptown Houston, while KTBU's transmitter is located near Missouri City, in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County. Previously, KTBU maintained separate facilities on Old Katy Road in the northwest side of Houston, while the KHOU studios only housed KTBU's master control and some internal operations. Ultra High Frequency
Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). Radio waves with frequencies above the UHF band fall into the super-high frequency (SHF) or microwave frequency range. Lower frequency signals fall into the VHF (very high frequency) or lower bands. Westheimer Road () is an arterial east–west road in Houston, Texas, United States. It runs from Bagby Street in Downtown and terminates at the Westpark Tollway on the southern edge of George Bush Park, stretching about long. The street was named after Michael Louis Westheimer, a German immigrant and flour salesman. Route description Westheimer Road's eastern terminus is at Bagby Street. At this point, traffic heading east on Westheimer either turns southwest on Bagby Street or jogs right and southeasterly, continuing on Elgin Street into Midtown and into Third Ward near the University of Houston. News 24 Houston is a defunct 24-hour cable news television channel featuring a rolling news format, serving the Greater Houston and Galveston areas. It was a joint venture by Belo Corp. (then-owner of local television station KHOU-TV, which assisted the cable channel with newsgathering) and Time Warner Cable (operators of the region's cable television systems at that time). The cable channel started up in December 2002, and was shut down on July 23, 2004, citing low viewership and a lack of advertising revenue. It was shut down along with sister cable station News 9 San Antonio (also a joint venture between Belo and Time Warner). Upon closure, both News 24 and News 9 had instructed viewers to leave their thoughts and comments about the cable channels on sister station News 8 Austin's message boards. KVQT-LD (channel 21) is a low-power television station in Houston, Texas, United States, which maintains affiliations with several digital multicast networks. The station is owned by C. Dowen Johnson. KVQT-LD's transmitter is located near Missouri City, in unincorporated northeastern Fort Bend County. History The station was founded on May 1, 1990, on channel 24, but moved to channel 21 in 2005 due to displacement by KETH-TV's digital signal. Memorial Park, a municipal park in Houston, Texas, is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Opened in 1924, the park covers approximately mostly inside the 610 Loop, across from the neighborhood of Memorial. Memorial Drive runs through the park, heading east to downtown Houston and west to the 610 Loop.
