KSPO (106.5 MHz) is an FM radio station licensed to Dishman, Washington, and serving the Spokane metropolitan area. KFIO (1050 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to Dishman, Washington and serves the greater Spokane media market. The station is owned by Thomas R. Read, through licensee Liberty Broadcasting System, LLC. The station broadcasts in the daytime at 25,000 watts but at night it must reduce power to 260 watts; that is because 1050 kHz is assigned as a clear channel frequency reserved for Mexico, so it cannot use a higher power that might interfere with Mexican radio stations. History KFIO first signed on as KSPO in 1984. Tom and Melinda Read purchased the tower and property of the former KPEG on Crestline on Spokane's South Hill. KEZE
KEZE (96.9 MHz "Hot 96.9") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Spokane, Washington. It is owned by Morgan Murphy Media, with the license held by QueenB Radio, and it airs a rhythmic contemporary radio format. The studios and offices are on West Boone Avenue in Spokane. The transmitter is located in the Antoine Peak Conservation Area in Otis Orchards, Washington. KEZE history KSPO On Christmas Day 1992, the station signed on as 96.9 KSPO. It was owned by Melinda Boucher Read and it aired a Christian radio format. It also carried news from the Mutual Broadcasting System. In an era where few women were in charge at radio stations, Read served as the general manager and CEO of the station. On March 4, 1996, KSPO moved to 106.5 FM, clearing 96.9 for KEZE to take over the frequency. KSPO is now the flagship station for the "American Christian Network." KTRW (630 kHz) is a locally owned AM radio station licensed to Opportunity, Washington, and serving the Spokane metropolitan area. It airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format for part of its day, with adult standards heard in several time slots by day and most of the night. Though it uses the KTW call sign in its marketing, KTRW is not related to the original Seattle radio station KTW which was at 1250 kHz and is now called KKDZ. KTRW's license is held by the Mutual Broadcasting System, LLC, owned by Thomas Read, along with KFIO and KSPO. This Mutual Broadcasting System is unrelated to the defunct nationwide radio network of the same name; however, the station has been using this and the Liberty Broadcasting System name as part of the station's promotion. Dishman is a locale and former census-designated place (CDP) in Spokane County, Washington, United States. Founded by Addison T. Dishman (II), who operated a nearby rock quarry in 1889, its population was 10,031 at the 2000 census. Dishman has been part of Spokane Valley since 2003. Geography Dishman is located at (47.656544, -117.277809). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 3.4 square miles (8.8 km2), all of it land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 10,031 people, 4,151 households, and 2,565 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,969.7 people per square mile (1,145.9/km2).
