KPMB (88.5 FM, "La Radio Cristiana") is an American radio station licensed since 1999 to serve the community of Plainview, the county seat of Hale County, Texas. The station's broadcast license is held by Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna. The station broadcast on AM frequency 1530 kHz and was last under the ownership of Paulino Bernal Evangelism. History The station was founded in 1963 by Phil Crenshaw and Gaylon O. Gilbert. The original power of that station was 1,000 watts, with power being raised to 5,000 watts non-critical hours (two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset) in 1968. Because it shared the same frequency as clear-channel station WCKY in Cincinnati, Ohio, KCLR operated only during the daytime hours. Paulino Bernal (June 22, 1939 – September 10, 2022) was an American accordion player and Christians, Christian Evangelism, evangelist. He was a member of the Texano Tex-Mex group Conjunto Bernal. In 1972, Paulino converted from the apostolic succession, apostolic Christian Evangelical and founded Bernal Christian Records to evangelize his Protestant Christian beliefs. Bernal owned and operated more than a dozen Spanish language, Spanish Language Religious broadcasting, religious radio stations in Texas, which carried a satellite-fed programming schedule through his La Nuevo Cristiana ministry.
