KPDX-TV
KPDX (channel 49) is a television station licensed to Vancouver, Washington, United States, serving the Portland, Oregon area as an affiliate of MyNetworkTV. It is the only major commercial station in Portland that is licensed to the Washington side of the market. KPDX is owned by Gray Television alongside Fox affiliate KPTV (channel 12). Both stations share studios on NW Greenbrier Parkway in Beaverton, while KPDX's transmitter is located in the Sylvan-Highlands section of Portland. However, master control and some internal operations are based at hub facilities at the shared studios of CBS affiliate KPHO-TV and independent station KTVK in Phoenix, Arizona. KPDX's signal is relayed in Central Oregon through translator station KUBN-LD (channel 9) in Bend, making the station available in about two-thirds of the state. Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequency, radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimeter). It is owned by Gray Television alongside CBS affiliate KPHO-TV (channel 5) and low-power LATV affiliate KPHE-LD (channel 44). Sylvan-Highlands, Portland, Oregon
Sylvan-Highlands is a neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, United States located on the west side of the West Hills. History In 1850, Nathan B. Jones, a pioneer of 1847, settled at the head of Tanner Creek and platted lots for a community he called "Zion Town". It is unknown if he named the place for Mount Zion, a summit located about a mile to the southeast. Because the name "Zion" for a local post office would have caused confusion, as there had already been two post offices so-named in Oregon, a resident suggested the name "Sylvan", from the Roman deity of the woods '' Silvanus''. The office was established in 1890 and it closed in 1906. Nathan B. Jones, who was considered an eccentric hermit, had wanted Zion Town to become the new capitol of Oregon. Beaverton, Oregon
Beaverton is a city in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Oregon with a small portion bordering Portland in the Tualatin Valley.
