KPBS (channel 15) is a PBS member television station in San Diego, California, United States. Owned by San Diego State University as part of KPBS Public Media, it is a sister station to NPR member KPBS-FM (89.5). The two outlets share studios at the Copley Communications Center on Campanile Drive on the SDSU campus. The TV station's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain in southwestern San Diego County. The only time KPBS' over-the-air channel 15 placement is mentioned at all is during the rare times the station signs on or off. History In 1960, San Diego State College (now San Diego State University) applied for a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to operate a non-commercial educational television station to serve San Diego. KPBS-FM is a non-commercial public radio station broadcasting in San Diego on 89.5 MHz, affiliated with National Public Radio (NPR). It is owned by San Diego State University as part of KPBS Public Media, and is a sister station to PBS member KPBS-TV (channel 15). The two outlets share studios located on the SDSU campus at the Copley Communications Center on Campanile Drive in San Diego. KPBS-FM's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain in southwestern San Diego County. In addition, KPBS-FM operates on the following transmitters: 89.1 MHz K206AC in La Jolla, and on 97.7 MHz KQVO in Calexico, Imperial County. The station airs programming consisting of news and public affairs. Capital Public Radio
CapRadio (Capital Public Radio) is the public radio service of California State University, Sacramento. It consists of two full-power stations and five repeaters, all members of National Public Radio. It is the NPR member for Sacramento and much of the surrounding area, including Stockton and Modesto. The group is headquartered on Folsom Boulevard on the Sacramento State campus. Stations KXJZ (90.9 FM) in Sacramento airs news and talk programming from NPR, as well as jazz and blues programming on weekends. KXJZ's programming is repeated on KUOP in Stockton at 91.3 FM, KKTO in Tahoe City at 90.5 FM, and KQNC in Quincy at 88.1 FM. KKTO's signal also reaches Reno and Carson City, Nevada, giving much of northern Nevada a second choice for NPR programming alongside that area's flagship station, KUNR. KQED-FM
KQED-FM (88.5 MHz) is a NPR-member radio station in San Francisco, California. Its parent organization is KQED Inc., which also owns its television partners, both of which are PBS member outlets: KQED (channel 9) and KQEH (channel 54). Studio operations for all three are located on Mariposa Drive in the Mission District of San Francisco, while its transmitter is located atop San Bruno Mountain. History KXKX The San Francisco Theological Seminary, a Presbyterian group, began broadcasting with station KXKX in April 1963. The new 110,000-watt station signed on two years after the seminary received a construction permit in August 1961. KPCC (89.3 FM) – branded 89.3 KPCC – is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to Pasadena, California, primarily serving Greater Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. KPCC also reaches much of Santa Barbara, Ventura County, Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, and extends throughout Southern California with five low-power broadcast relay stations and three full-power repeaters.
