KOKL (1240 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format, licensed to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, United States. The station is owned by Third Day Broadcasting, Inc., and broadcasts from studios in the historic Kress building in downtown Okmulgee. History KHBG In 1936, three groups applied to build a new radio station on 1210 kHz in Okmulgee, the city's first. Two represented local newspapers, the ''Record'' and ''Daily Times'', while the third was the Okmulgee Broadcasting Company. The newspapers dropped out of the running that April, with the ''Times'' stating that it felt local advertising support would be insufficient to sustain the outlet, especially if it could not broadcast at night. Taking the call letters KHBG, representing founding owner Harry B. Greaves, the new outlet signed on in the first week of October. It broadcast during the daytime only with 100 watts. Okmulgee, Oklahoma
Okmulgee is a city in, and the county seat of, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. History Okmulgee has been the capital of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation since 1868, when it was founded following the Civil War. The Creek Nation began restoring order after that conflict. They had allied with the Confederacy during the war and needed to make a new peace treaty with the United States afterward as a result. They passed a new constitution and elected Samuel Checote as their first principal chief after the war. KXOJ-FM
KXOJ-FM is a contemporary Christian radio station licensed to Glenpool, Oklahoma, serving the Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tulsa area at 94.1 FM. The station is owned by Stephens Media, through licensee SMG-Tulsa, LLC. Its studios are located at the CityPlex Towers and its transmitter is in Chandler Park in West Tulsa. KXOJ-FM also provides a Christian CHR station known as Now 94.5, playing Christian Pop, Rock, and Hip-Hop music. Until August 16, 2016, the then-KTSO branded itself as "The Breeze". The call letters signified a previous format, Tulsa's Soft Oldies. Prior to that format, the station was licensed to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and aired a range of formats, including classical music. Frederick is a city and county seat of Tillman County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,940 at the 2010 census. It is an agriculture-based community that primarily produces wheat, cotton, and cattle. Frederick is home to three dairies, a 1400-acre industrial park, and Frederick Regional Airport, which includes restored World War II hangars which house the World War II Airborne Demonstration Team. Benjamin Frank "Ben" Davis (born October 30, 1945) is a former professional American football cornerback and return specialist for ten years in the National Football League. He is the brother of political activist Angela Davis. Early years Benjamin Davis was born in 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. His father, a graduate of St. Augustine's College, a traditional black college in Raleigh, North Carolina, was briefly a high school history teacher, but found it more lucrative to own and operate a service station in the black section of Birmingham. His mother, with an MA from New York University, was an elementary school teacher.
