KNOX-TV
KNOX-TV, channel 10, was a VHF television station in Grand Forks, North Dakota that operated from December 11, 1955 to February 1964. History KNOX broadcast on channel 10 as an ABC affiliate. The station later signed on Winnipeg-targeted border blaster KCND-TV, which was a semi-satellite of KNOX, on November 7, 1960. While KNOX was a primary ABC affiliate, the station also carried programming from NBC. In 1962, KNOX and KCND, along with KEND-TV (now KVLY-TV) in Fargo, North Dakota, were purchased for $675,200 by the Pembina Broadcasting Company, a group led by Ferris Traylor, the part-owner of an Indiana TV station. KNOX merged with KEND, and KNOX shut down in 1964 after KEND (known as KTHI-TV at this time) began transmitting from a tower in Blanchard, between Fargo and Grand Forks. KCND-TV
KCND-TV was a television station which broadcast from Pembina, North Dakota, United States from 1960 to 1975, targeting the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada market some 60 miles (100 kilometres) to the north. It was the forerunner of current Global Television Network affiliate CKND-DT in Winnipeg, which remains in operation. KCND was established by the Community Radio Corporation, the parent company of KNOX-TV and KNOX AM in Grand Forks, North Dakota, after being granted a construction permit by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission in July 1958. The station's plans were publicly announced in early 1959, and KCND signed on November 7, 1960 on channel 12. Grand Forks is the third-largest city in the state of North Dakota (after Fargo and Bismarck) and the county seat of Grand Forks County. According to the 2020 census, the city's population was 59,166. Thief River Falls, sometimes referred to as Thief River or abbreviated as TRF, is a city in Pennington County in the northwest portion of the U.S. state of Minnesota. KVRR (channel 15) is a television station in Fargo, North Dakota, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. It is the flagship television property of locally based Red River Broadcasting, which has owned the station since its inception. KVRR's studios are located on South 40th Street and South 9th Avenue in Fargo, and its transmitter is located near Tansem, Minnesota.
