KNNR (1400 AM) is a commercial radio station based in Reno, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Donald Brown and Cynthia Green, through licensee Silver State Broadcasting LLC. It broadcasts a Spanish AC format. History KBDB came to air in 2000 and eventually broadcast a smooth jazz format. After two months off the air, KBDB became KNNR in 2012 with taped city hearings and for a time, '' The Savage Nation'', which was moved back to KKOH and later discontinued. Sparks is a city in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. It was founded in 1904, incorporated on March 15, 1905, and is located just east of Reno. The 2020 U.S. Census counted 108,445 residents in the city. It is the fifth most populous city in Nevada. It is named after John Sparks, Nevada Governor (1903–1908), and a member of the Silver Party. The Vegas Golden Knights are a professional ice hockey team based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. KKOH (780 kHz, "News Talk 780 KOH") is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Reno, Nevada. KKOH airs a talk radio format and is owned and operated by Cumulus Media. Studios and offices are on East Plumb Lane. It transmits from a three-tower array off Chickadee Drive. KKOH broadcasts at 50,000 watts, the maximum power permitted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for AM stations. Because 780 AM is a clear channel frequency, reserved for Class A WBBM in Chicago, KKOH must use a directional signal after sunset to avoid interfering with WBBM. A single tower is used during the day, allowing it to be heard some distance into California. It provides a strong grade B signal to Sacramento and can be heard as far as the Bay Area under the right conditions. At night, power is fed to all three towers in a directional pattern to protect WBBM. Even with this restriction, it can heard in much of the Western United States with a good radio. ''The Savage Nation'' (also called ''The Michael Savage Show'') was an American conservative talk radio show hosted by Michael Savage. The program was heard by approximately 11 million listeners a week, which made it the 7th most listened to radio show in the country. The show was based in San Francisco, California, and was syndicated through Cumulus Media and Westwood One. Program summary 1994–1998 In 1994, Michael Savage (then publishing under his birth name ''Michael Weiner'') submitted for publication a manuscript called ''Immigrants and Epidemics''. The proposed book, which was about the influx of foreign diseases due to the wave of illegal immigrants, was promptly rejected for what Savage contends was its politically incorrect subject matter. This, along with the suggestions of friends and acquaintances, inspired Savage to record a radio demo about the very subject of his manuscript.
